Anonymous, 26 Sep 2010How is the durability of the screen? If i use it with sweat... moreCome on...
The screen is made of gorilla glass, sense when did sweaty/wet hands start breaking glass?
Where the glass meets the body of the phone has a gasket below the glass so water will not get in the phone from there. The screen does use capacitive technology so water left back on the screen can be recognized as a finger touch causing the phone to activate things without you doing anything but that is easily fixed by wiping the water off.
Internal memory can’t be upgraded SD cards you can change as much as you like.
You don’t need to upgrade OS version (people just like to do it) and it does void your warranty.
You may have to upgrade your ROM software depending on how old a HD2 you buy but that is a 1 time thing now if you are staying with original HTC ROMs. If you are going to use cooked ROMs there are far too many for me to count, you could change and change on till you can’t take it no more but that is not a NEED, it is a WANT.

Transformer, 26 Sep 2010Nice to hear u get you're HD 2 back ^_^ i'm using miri@stev... moreI'm using Omega ROM... I was using that before I sent my phone to HTC repair... The Omega ROM is stable and fast... From what I read it runs Android well... I will try Anriod on my HD2, but I'm waiting for the Desire HD Android to be ready... When I set my phone up this time, I don't plan on doing it again unless something goes wrong... Don't have the time to flash my ROM like I use to, and besides it gets old doing that... If it works I will stick with the current Omega ROM v14... Also I'm using the new radio as well v2.14.xxx...

My first test today with the new radio... It only lost 6% for 13 hours... Now I don't have alot setup yet like weather etc... I was just checking standby time... Also I'm using the extened battery from HTC with the kickstand... I setup weather and will test usage...

              [deleted post]Just for your knowledge...
You don’t have to have a HTC center in your country to get your phone fixed. It is covered by an international warranty. All you need is a credit card that can do international transactions, and your bill for buying the phone (I hope you got it from a reputable store or web site) then you go to the HTC web site closes to your country and get the # for the service & Repair department. If they think your phone does need to come in for repairs they will give you a RMA # and you just have to ship it to them with FedEx.
Let FedEx know it is going for repairs so they will do up the customs forms so you will not have to pay tax when it comes back.

Sally, 25 Sep 2010Hi Anthony again, i reduced the size as u advised, and it w... moreSally
You had that internal memory so disorganised, I recommend that you do a hard reset a.k.a factory reset and start from scratch. Sync your info with “My Phone” if you can and just start over. This time install your programs on the SD card and change the setting of your programs to save files to the sd card.
Set your email attachments to go to the sd card. By the way, what is your ROM version?
There are some default files you can delete to have more free space but that depends on the ROM you are running. After you finish set back up your phone, you what to have more than 51.2mb of free space on internal storage. That is 10% of the ROM on a T8585 HD2

Well I hacked my phone to load cust ROM's again... It took me a min, but it went smooth though... I loaded Omega Rom v14 CHT with the new radio 2.14.50... Everything seems to be working fine so far... Really wanted to load Omega Dinik v14, but it's not available yet... Will cust Rom later today??? Or a may wait til the Dinik Rom is available so I can see which I like... Don't want to flash my phone alot... Want to find a ROM that works and stick with it... Then I can cust it with Andriod... I want re-flash unless something happens... I know what apps I will install... Want load phone with a ton of apps like before (only the ones I use on a daily basis)... I want the ROM to be light and fast (no none sense apps this go around).....

I may try Omega Dinik v13... Has anyone loaded this on there HD2????? If so... How is it???????

Anthony, 25 Sep 2010Nice to hear that they changed the entire button bar instea... moreI'm going to wait and see... It seems to be working great now... It work fine before (only problem was not able to power off)... I would like to get the ATT 3G model (Tel), but that model is still high ($650 to $879)... I could only get around $450 to $500 for mines... Some HD2's are selling for around $375.... Don't want to pay anymore additional money for a HD2...

Will see what phones come out for WP7 and Android in the next few months... Then will decide what my next phone will be (as I said in other posts my next phone has to have certain updates, and it will be US 3G bands...)... I good with the HD2 for now... Will load Desire HD Sense on it when it's ready for everyday use, and most things are working... You can still do way more with the HD2 than any phone out right now... Hopefully we can try WP7 on the HD2 when released next month...

Now I need to HPSL my phone to load cust ROM.. I've been using the OMEGA ROM for the last few months... It's a very, very nice and stable ROM... Also you get around 200MB of storage after flash to work with.......

It makes sense that you would get the tmobile keys because HTC USA would not stock the international parts as that version never came to the USA.
So are you going to keep the phone or sell?

Well Fedex just dropped off my phone... Guess what???? They changed my keys.. Now I have the TMO keys at the bottom ((Green phone button and the red power off button)... They did change all the bottom buttons... But it looks like they did fix the power off problem. It also no longer powers on when you insert the battery. I now can select power off from the quicklist and the phone now powers off without coming back on.... Looks like they finally fixed it. At least those issues. Have to set it up the phone later tonight???

                              What HTC repair changed:
                              -Bottom buttons. Now TMO look...
-ROM version now 1.66.76641. My old ROM was v1.43....

Abeel, 24 Sep 2010Hi, Iwould like to know the update that you mentioned is it... moreNo!
The update I was talking about was the ROM update. If your ROM is 1.66 or newer you would not even need the “New SMS function Update” you can see your ROM version by going to.... settings>about phone>software information
e.g. this is my ROM # (1.66.405.2) 1.66 is the version .405. Is the region/provider code.
So when you read your ROM number, if it is older than 1.66 you need to update. Then you have to go look for a newer rom version (1.66 or newer) that has the same region/provider code as your phone.
Doing this kind of upgrade is not a Hack and will not break your warranty.
Any ROM older than 1.66 has more than 1 BUG in the sms.
                                1. Sometimes your sms sticks in the outbox and it does not tell you it did not go. And when it sticks all sms after that gets stuck. Till you restart.
                                2. It has to load all the sms from the contact you are viewing before you can create a sms of your own.
                                3. When a contact start to get allot of sms, some or all can start to disappear from the chat window.
                                4. It does not give you a message count for your contacts.
If you are having any of those problems you have an OLD ROM THAT NEEDS TO BE UPDATED.

If you do have 1.66 or newer there are other updates that are on the HTC site for other things. You just have to look at what ROM version they were made to fix a problem in.
I was telling sally a common reason any window mobile phone freezes is because there is not enough free space on internal memory for the OS to make swap files which it need to function. And sally confirmed that she only left 12.03mb of internal storage free which is way too low.
I recommend not going under 51.2mb for the HD2 T8585 and not under 100mb for the US version that has the 1GB ROM. That value is leaving 10% of the ROM storage space free.
These phones came with storage card and people need to use them more.
They also came with allot of sample crap that you don’t need that you can delete to free up space.

I would hold off on WP7 til 2011... Read more..

I still believe HTC will release a higher end phone in 2011... I remember reading that the first release of WP7 devises will be the lower end and the higher end phones will be for the business user... I also remember reading that there was two phases of WP7 (Media and Business)... The business version wasn't complete and fully in WP7 yet....

I think we will see a device with the following:
                                    -1.5+ GHz QUALCOMM SNAPDRAGON processor
                                    -1+ GB RAM
                                    -1+ GB ROM
-8/16/32GB Internal memory (we have 8GB now)
-8+ Megapixel camera with Xenon Flash
-4.5+ inch Super Amoled (Could go to 4.8 or 5.0)
                                    -720p Video/recording (could see 1080p recording)
                                    -4G upto 100 mbps
                                    -SRS Sound
                                    -HDMI
                                    -with some other features...

I also read that Samung will double the output of the Super Amoled screen in 2011... So it kinda makes sense that HTC is waiting for the new processors to come out in 2011 to release a high end WP7 device....

I'm glad the new phone is same as HD2, because a WP7 port to the HD2 is more likely (easier since same)...
