My life with HTC HD2 is much better after having Darkstone HD2Froyo v2.1 installed. its like having a gsm version of HTC EVO with the 4.3" screen. not to mention able to show off to friends my HD2 can dual boot WinMo and Android.

I use ChuckyROM WWE Dated 11/08/2010 (Thanks to Team XDA)
    Radio Version 2.12.50.02_2
Phone works like a charm for all applications & games.
However, the battery life has reduced drastically. Runs good for 4-5 hours.
Want inputs for better battery life.

I am really bothered about these several complaints on this phone whose review on you tube seems great because I am in the middle of deciding between a Nokia N900 & this HTC HD2 phone.

Can anyone who is practically familiar with these 2 phones, please sincerely tell which is much more powerful & reliable for an above average user like me!

USE: Internet trading, exchange & dealings, weather & international info regular updates, Applications running, movies & gaming, spreadsheet & flash user, pictures capturing & sharing, map & local GPS user etc.

Transformer, 01 Sep 2010U welcome my friend..Enjoy Thx man ! Appreciate it ! .. but I haven't updated my ROM or my Radio Version lol .. I just looked at the Android's Compatible Radio Versions & ROM Versions, and there was the Minimum Version of: 2.08 for the ROM versions & something about the same for the Radio Version, then I looked in my phone's "Software Information" & I've noticed that everything fits perfectly xDD.. so I only needed to Hard SPL my phone, then I copied the Android OS in my storage card & I runned CLRCAD.exe & then HARET.exe.. & that's all.. then I'm in Android v2.2 ! ;) ..

PhoneApp, 03 Sep 2010Will the freezing problem if ROM upgraded to 1.66???Updating to 1.66 won't help you to get rid of freezing….it only helps minimize hanging & fix bugs of previous version. If you want to stick with stock 1.66…..do not install Swype and do not install apps related to taskbar like battery icon etc.

The only way to get rid of freezing is to install custom rom. Don’t ask me which custom rom is good as its about personal taste. I've tried 5-6 custom rom and I can guarantee you …no matter which custom rom you use…..they are stable & won't give you freezing/hanging problem. Having said that…..custom rom comes with price. Its about give & take……you get sth and you lose sth (esp battery life is not good in custom rom)….and also they take out lots of things from stock which may be useful to you.

PhoneApp, 03 Sep 2010Will the freezing problem if ROM upgraded to 1.66???Must of the freezing will stop if you upgrade to 1.66 or higher and install the hotfix files that are on the HTC site.
But freezing stopping altogether is a bit more complicated and depends on you the user.
You have to remember the phone is running a mobile version of WINDOWS. And just like its desktop counterpart it is only as stable as its weakest link. For this phone that is the free space on the ROM a.k.a. internal storage. If that falls below 10% you will just go from one freeze right into the next because there is not enough free space to make swap files and temp files that running programs do make on internal storage. If it is getting near to the 10% you will start getting lag. It is best to install what you can on the SD and store files, email attachment, browser catch, and any other thing that you can on the SD. (that is what it is there for)
You also have to remember that every winmo phone is not the HD2 so don’t things every winmo software you download was made or tested and approved as being 100% compatible with the HD2.
That is testing you, the user is going to have to do your self. And if you are one of those people that install new things almost every day, it’s going to be imposable to detect which ones are cause your phone to freeze and should be uninstalled.

The HD2 is by far the worst phone I have ever had. It freezes, has huge amounts amounts of lag time, and can't even write a text and receive a text at the same time. I have to pull the battery at least 3x a day every day. It forgets my password and I have to hard boot it up again and lose all info I had on it. It is a horrible horrible phone. I like to save my texts and every time I get a little over a 1000 messages it works like crap. This phone is the worst, b/c I can't actually use it. If I ever had an emergency I could not count on this phone to work. Some times I try to make a call, and if a text is coming in at the same time I can't make the call. The texts don't allow me to write the message until all texts from that person have loaded and when that # is above 3-400 it takes forever. Bottom line ANY PHONE S BETTER THAN THIS PHONE. NO redeeming qualities. And the battery only lasts me about 5 hours.
