Updating the ROM will patch problems in the software and drivers for the phones hardware.
So the phone will work better. (but is will still look the same.)

I recently got mine last ... moreGo to XDA Developers to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=534 (I assume you don't have the USA T-Mobile HD2), download a custom made ROM. I recommend Artemis ROM (I am using v27.0), it is faster than others and does not have a ton of applications that could freeze your phone. I also recommend that you install Co0kie HomeTab with CHT Editor and TCPMP for video and music playback.

style, 12 Aug 2010My windows player wont play avi format ! can some body help me ?Install this player http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=636423 and you will not only be able to play avi files, but you will have subtitles too. Go to Options -> Video and select GDI.

Tricky, 11 Aug 2010Anthony, Many Thanks for your reply. It is not games I want... moreBecause of the screen size and the new style of keypad (that the Touch HD did not have),
typing on the HD2 is a lot easier. Each key is bigger and you just have to touch not press like you did on the HD because the screen is capacitive. That is both a blessing and a curse. Blessing because it only takes a touch to use, curse because if any part of your hand/body just touches the screen its going to activate something and as you can see the entire front of this phone is the screen.

People are so shallow these days. They hold the phone, press here and there and quickly jump to the conclusion: it is too large, it has Windows Mobile, therefore it is crap. I personally love my HD2. It is the best phone I ever had. For the Android fanboys, it can run Android and with the help of the community it will do it better than Desire or any other phone that comes with stock Android. For the iPhone fanboys, start thinking out of the box. iPhones are not the best phones on the market. Up until now I had only Nokia phones and I used them to the fullest of their capacity, but sadly Nokia is losing ground fast. After flashing a custom ROM and installing a few other free applications, HD2 is showing its true power. If you want to use a phone out of the box, then get a cheap phone that lasts for 1 week. Even iPhone users jailbreak their phones to exploit the full potential of their phones. Stop making rushed comments and think a little.

Samsung ARM Cortex A8 1GHz processor vs Snapdragon 1ghz
Cortex seems to be faster & energy efficient. One thing I do not understand about samsung....they got everything from super amoled screen to powerful processor. In other words, they manufacture every mobile phone components. Even apple buy its all electronic stuffs from them. Due to short supply of amoled screen...htc is putting super lcd in upcoming desire & nexus phones.
But when comes to sammy phones....they are simply not up to mark or as compelling as htc & apple phones. They always make crappy phones ...i mean hardware-wise. Look at Galaxy S....specs is really great but when u look this phone in real...it just looks cheap & plasticy. If they were to come up with some good design & good built-quality like htc.....i think this will make huge difference for samsung in terms of market share of smartphones. They got everything what it takes to and still struggling.
Its just my 2 cents on samsung. I love galaxy S but again it simply looks cheap.
