Anthony, 17 Jul 2010I don’t have any time to do ROM testing any more, my phone ... moreSame here... I'm done with cooked ROM's also (too time consuming to flash)... I found one Omega which I rate 4 out of 5... It has some issues, but there not show stopers... I'm waiting for a final release of Android for the HD2... It would be nice to have a dual boot WM & Andriod phone... WM7 doesn't move me to try...

Anthony, 17 Jul 2010I don’t have any time to do ROM testing any more, my phone ... moreI hear you on the no time part. I'm working over-time 6 days a week now in order to make the project deadline.

I'll check out the video for the cookie home tab once I get home (like I said, very busy with work...and I'm actualy AT work right now).

I will have time tomorrow though (sunday) so I will drop you a line here once I'm up and running. Thanks again Anthony, you the man.

ProjectCM3, 17 Jul 2010Hey Anthony! No, I haven't updated my ROM to 1.66 as of ... moreI don’t have any time to do ROM testing any more, my phone has became all work only and I can’t have any down time to see what a ROM can and can’t do. So I made the decision not to try any cooked ROMs till 7 come out cooked.
Talk to “Obeche” he seems to be using android on the HD2.
You don’t need cookie home tab but you might like it, so that is why I gave you the link. Go look at the video on the site and see if it has anything you can use.
as for 1.66 just say when and we will start.

Anthony, 17 Jul 2010did you ever update your ROM to 1.66Hey Anthony!

No, I haven't updated my ROM to 1.66 as of yet. I was going to wait and see what recent activity has been going on in here, what's new and basically bet up to speed with what's what.

Last night I downloaded MMTaskManager from Omarket and it works perfectly.

As for the Cookie you were talking about, why do I need it?

Whenever you are comfortable and no pressure is on you because I know your busy, I'd love to start digging and beging the whole ROM update to 1.66.

Also, I've been hearing many talks on the web of how the HD2 can now be setup to run Android, Froyo...etc. What are your opinions on this, and is it safe?

        Thanks!

This is for the newbie’s the others may already know this and can feel free to add to it.
things that can be done to gain free space in internal memory.

          1. Move Opera Cache Files to Storage Card
Open Opera and type "opera:config" in the address bar. You'll then be in the config page. Find the section "User Prefs".
In there you should find something called "Cache Directory4". Just change that path to any directory in your storage card
(for example : "\Storage Card\OperaCache"). Scroll to bottom of page and hit Save.

          2. Delete files that you may not be using.
          a. Folder: My Device\Music
          Delete the sample song folders.

          b. Folder: My Device\My documents\My Pictures
Delete all or move to storage.

          c. Folder: My Device\My documents\My wallpapers
Delete all or move to Storage.

          d. Folder: My Device\My documents\My wallpapers

          e. Folder: My Device\Program files
Delete the folder "copilot" if you don't use it.

          f. Folder: My Device\Windows\Animated Wallpaper
Delete all or move to Storage.

          g. Folder: My Device\Windows\
Delete Opera 9.exe (rom version will replace it don't worry)

          h. Folder: My Device\Windows\
Delete OperaL.exe (rom version will replace it don't worry)

          i. Folder: My Device\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
Delete which ever shortcut you don't need.

          j. Folder: My Device\Windows\Rings
Delete the Ring tones you don't use or move them to storage.

          3. set email attachments to go to the memory card. (mail>inbox>menu>tools>options>storage)

          4. Set bluetooth files to go to memory card. (settings>menu>all settings>bluetooth>left tab>advanced>File Transfer)

          5. Go to the (my device>Programs files) folder and delete any folder that is from a program you already uninstalled.

          6. Set the default save location for word, camera, footprints, excel and so on to the memory card.

          7. Look in the (my device> my documents for any files you already auto saved there and move them to the memory card.

ProjectCM3, 16 Jul 2010I appreciate it denmod. Also, where's Anthony?Ok this is the official link to the cookie home tab.
              http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625483
From here you will find more links to more clocks, video demos, and the link to the cookie editor.
As for the program..... I would stay away from the cookie lock screen. It’s a bit buggy and sometimes your home screen doesn’t load back when you slide to unlock.

demonjedi23, 16 Jul 2010Yea you can now. It was announced two days ago. I'm buying ... moreThe Android Froyo 2.2 in my view is the best (for now) to try on HD2.
The sound play (media) is quality.
                Calls too are very nice.
I have been able to do a great deal connecting with the wifi - so the wifi is good. SMS works also.

Pls note: to get the sound working - "run CLRCAD.exe before you run HaRet.exe. Don't worry if CLRCAD.exe doesn't show anything, it's not supposed to."

I also must add that the Omarket really is very well put together and intuitive/easy to use.

                                Hi,

I'm from Belgium & currently searching to by a new Smartphone…. There are 2 types for which I have interest on it but still not sure which one I'll will choose.

HTC HD 2 or HTC Google Nexus One…. (I've read the specifications on both & the first one HD2 is more than complete with all his applications?)

A year ago I bought the BlackBerry Storm (I use often many applications on the office himself as mails, conference calls for meetings etc…)
But after less than 5 months the problems started already, the phone froze without any reason (and to solve it I had to put out the battery) or it switched out & on while I received a call…..

So for me no blackberry anymore even if the customer service of BB was very GOOD

                                  Hello and how is everyone?

                                  ANTHONY:

Well, I finally got me a new laptop..WITH A WORKING SCREEN! Yay! I ended up purchasing a new HP dv6 series for a pretty nice price too. Man does technology evolve fast! I purchased my old laptop 5 years ago (2005/6) and it was top-of-the-line back then. Now, with HALF the price I paid for my old laptop, this new laptop has 5 times the hard disk drive, 4 times the RAM and double the processor speeds! Just amazing!

So, since I now have a new personal laptop, I can re-enter the world of updates, ROMS and apps for my HD2.

I was able to download and successfully install Omarket. I'm currently downloading apps like crazy on my HD2. In my rampage, I stumbled over the following:

                                  "CoOkies Home Tab 1.85"

Can anyone inform me of what is what with this tweak, what's good and what's not good and if I should install it on my HD2?

Anyways, let me know what's new and how things are in the world of mobile phone friends.

I have just bought my second Telstra supported Htc hd2 phone here in Australia.
                                    In summation:-
                                    A pretty good bloody phone!!
I would go as far as to say this is the BEST phone on the market to date, anywhere, second to none.
65k Vs 16million colors - who is counting anyway.
Forget all this spec talk, its only on paper anyway.
Forget iphone4 & the rest & all the other OS's, windows 6.5 works well, its user friendly & i would imagine win7 when up and running will be even better.
Look guys, get one of these little beauties or should i say A BIG little beauty in your hand & give it a fair and decent workout.
As i said, this Htc product is second to none in my opinion & Htc are a great mob to deal with.
They only make premium products, and they did not even pay me to say this.
                                    So there!!

Actually I doubt if Andriod is "ready" fully for HD2 yet - but we'll get there sooner than thought.
I was able to run LeoFroyo-1.0 (from dan1j3l) and it's very promising. Was able to get the wifi running and did some great stuff on the internet with it (running on HD2). Speed of browsing was very ok - I actually was able to download from Market and install and run.
Also I can make calls and receive calls (but no sound yet in both case).
Finally, I was able to received sms on it today and play some 3D games. No sound yet on music play.
Andriod working fully on HD2 will be super great. And yes, Froyo is sweet!

                                        • 15 Jul 2010

I had my HTC Leo for a couple of months now and I'am generally happy with it.

I had som issues like my phone just froze at one time (had to pul the battery out) and sometimes some applications won't work properly (like video recording or bluetooth freezing on initialization) but that's just windows!! It doesn't even work properly on PCs.

Overall the HD2 it's a nice pice of hardware especially for office use (and don't give me that crap about Blackberry being better). Like for example you can work with e-mails almost as you do with a PC: edit content on replay or forward, manage multiple folders, etc... The office mobile suite... isn't of much use besides maybe as an excellent doc/ppt/xls viewer.

The applications (like pdf reader and foto viewer) respond really fast making up a pleasant experience. The games work well (PSP) style if you can get/buy them for your designed specs. Even without a keyboard the gaming experience is very nice.

The camera shots won't win you any awards. The images are just fine but not spectacular. On the large HD2 display they look gorgeous and the pinch/zoom thing really add up to the experience. On the PC they don't look as great anymore but stil fine. Video recording is great as you can record on 640x480 and different codec types (didn't ever got the pink aura problem, doe i had some problems with the colors when i turned the ISO to 800 - best left on auto :p).

The web surfing experience is generally great (especially when a browser with flash10 support will come along - and no the Skyfire isn't free anymore :( ).

As music player it will just do if you're not a "professional" with a really fine ear (if so jut get you're self an ipod or something)

The HTC Sense UI gives the phone a nice eye candy look, doe it doesn't manage to cover windows ugliness entirely.

So to sum it up, I'am satisfied with my Leo and waiting for a stable android/win7 port to make it complete.

PS: If you want it for gaming get a PSP. If you want it for music get an Ipod or something. If you want great pictures get a camera. If you want an "all season" jack of all trades, go for it. I did ;)
