i use .jar programs on my phone that was made to install on a nokia. and it installed just by puting it on the phone and clicking on it.

Only when you want to install an UNSIGNED ROM do you have to HACK the (SPL = like BIOS for the Phone)

Think of it like a windows PC. (mobile version)
Soft reset is just turning it off and turning it back on.
Hard reset is formatting the Drive and reinstalling the OS.

The difference is the 3G band. You need to fine out which of the two has the 3G band that your 3G service provider use.
Eg. Tmobile US is T9193 but Tmobile UK is T8585
There are also software and internal storage differences as well.

Hello,
With respect to this phone, I have been looking at ebay and there are TWO models listed for the HD2.
One is the T8585 and the other is T9193.
A seller is alleging that the T8585 is not 3G capable.
Can you state what the difference is between these phones as having 3G & 3.5G capabilities are important.

It's realy nice to meet such dedicated people like you. I am totally newby and nontechno so it's probably lake of my awareness that I could not grab the answer of my question regarding signed and unsigned application concept. I change the format of question this way. "In windows free applicatioin sites, is there a chance that an application is unsigned and I have to sign it with certificate or hack the phone. If it's true than what are the methods to do this." Please forgive me as it may be a stupid questions. But as I mentioned I was on symbian OS and this is just common there.

To the people that are having problems registering there Omarket.
Go back to the same site you downloaded it from and at the top of the page there is a link to sign up for an account. See if that works for you.
If it does I will like to know so I can tell the next person that has the same problem.

I am surprized and happy to see the way y... moreHacking the phone can mean many things. But updating your ROM I would not say is a hack because that is legally allowed. Installing unsigned 3rd party software is also legally allowed.
What I call hacking is editing the registry or modifying/replacing the SPL
(but that’s just my view)
Yes there is a lot of free software you just have to know how to look for them because they are not all in one place. And not all winmo software was made to run on the HD2 hardware.
I can’t list everything that is different between symbian and winmo.
The major one is winmo is like “Window desktop LT” so the phone has more in common with a PC than it does with any other phone in terms of how it get things done.
Microsoft latest file formats don’t need converting And just about everything can be modified/changed/corrupted with the right/wrong software just like a PC.
There is a lot of info here from me already, you just have to go back and read.
I have been using this phone as of November 2009 and before that I was testing its interface on the HD as of march 2009 so between march to October 2009 there is info from me on the HD forum as well about the Leo interface.
I think there is a Garmin for the HD2 as well. But because where Im located, maps are not easy to come by, so I just use google mobile maps software.
There is only one comp. I know of that is make turn by turn maps for my country and those maps cost about $230US LOL!
so that will stay right there for now.
I make my own custom maps with a google account, from google maps on the PC and have it sync to google mobile maps. and if you have a factory unlocked ROM on your phone the (GPS, digital compass & footprints) all work with the google maps.
