Anthony, 15 Jun 2010Pros, 1. “sms get stuck in out box” bug is fixed. 2. sms... moreSounds like a good upgrade ROM wise. I have no problem backing up all my stuff, or re-doing everything. I actually enjoy it...I'm weird.

However, you did scare me a bit with the SD Card and the ROM having the possibility of not fully downloading, and us not knowing what the side-effects could be. So, I think I'm going to wait until I can afford a new laptop. A decision with regards to that will be made withing the next 2 weeks or so. Then I believe we can safely proceed with the ROM upgrade.

As for clearing out some of my phone memory...everything looks pretty straight forward and to the point. Thank you ANTHONY and NICK for replying to that question. I appreciate it very much.

I will be online for the next 11 hours :)

          1. “sms get stuck in out box” bug is fixed.
          2. sms now have a message counter.
          3. If you have someone that you sms a lot, you can now start typing to them even when the conversation is still loading.
          4. just a tad more stable than 1.48
          5. The task manager is not in the start menu so it can be loaded in quick links.

          Cons
Flashing a new ROM will mean..
          1. Having to reinstall all your programs and custom settings.
          2. you will have to backup your data that is kept on internal memory (as you have no PC you can use the “my phone” program or “PIM backup”)
          3. Flashing using the SD card can be dangerous if you have a faulty card or did not get the full ROM download, like what happed to you the first time we did this. But this time because is not being done from the PC and from the SD card instead I don’t know if there is any safe guards that will stop a bad flash like it did with the PC interface software. So you have to be a 100% that you got the full ROM this time. (note: flashing this way dose work, I have done it my self on my phone. I just never tested what would happen if the rom download is corrupted.)

          As for the clean up

          a. Folder: My Device\Music
          Delete the sample song folders.

          b. Folder: My Device\My documents\My Pictures
Delete all or move to storage.

          c. Folder: My Device\My documents\My wallpapers
Delete all or move to Storage.

          d. Folder: My Device\My documents\My wallpapers

          e. Folder: My Device\Program files
Delete the folder "copilot" if you don't use it.

          f. Folder: My Device\Windows\Animated Wallpaper
Delete all or move to Storage.

          g. Folder: My Device\Windows\
Delete Opera 9.exe (rom version will replace it don't worry)

          h. Folder: My Device\Windows\
Delete OperaL.exe (rom version will replace it don't worry)

          i. Folder: My Device\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
Delete which ever shortcut you don't need.

          j. Folder: My Device\Windows\Rings
Delete the Ring tones you don't use or move them to storage.

          k. If you made word, excel, notes, received files over bluetooth or email with attachments,
and did not change the default save locations, you have to move those files to the SD as well.

Anonymous, 15 Jun 2010No as its not available in the UK and I already own a HTC HD2.why did you buy a window mobile phone if you really wanted an android phone? you can get it to look like an android or win 7 but it can't actually be any of them. it is, what it is. know what you want before you buy.

Is it possible to get the HD2 running on Android OS as opposed to WinMob 6.5? If so, how? (I'm sure I read a while back that someone had done this). Failing this, will it be possible to upgrade to WinMob 7.0 later this year?

Is 1.66 much better? What are the main pros vs. cons?

I also was wondering if there are any particular files that I be deleting in order to free up memory on the phone...like in the youtube folder or anything of that nature?

do you want to update to the 1.66 ROM?
if yes the easy way would be HSPL but if you don't have a friend that would let you install WMDC or ActiveSync on there PC, you will have to do it the SD card way.
