Adjust auto-turn off screen to 1 to 2 minutes.
Disable any vibration mode if possible & when not needed (e.g. phone keypad).
Adjust the sound volume to suit your need (not to max, obviously).
No automatic data connection if possible (e.g. weather update & e-mails). Do it manually when needed.

What Anthony is saying is 1.6 is now upgraded with a few more features, they first upgraded with 1.7 but had a small error but so they fixed it & put out 1.7.1 all fixed, so download 1.7.1 only & the same version CHT edit 1.7.1 if you want that cab too. You can only gain from these to cabs.
If you have lots of shortcut links be sure to back them up but you will need CHT edit 1.6 first if you didnt have it before, that will give you the option to export your settings in the menu :o)

One of the main battery drainers is the big screen so always switch it off to sleep mode when your not using it. Also you should have the backlight setting on Auto, you can check via > Setting > Sound & Display > Backlight > Auto adjust backlight box should be ticked. You could also un-tick it & manually lower the screen brightness.
Failing that you could always get a cheap backup batt from e-bay. :o)

is there any other way to extend the battery life of my hd2??? is it because of the snap dragon that is why the battery drains so fast??? someone suggested to turn off sense ui... come on that is why this phone stands out among the other winmo 6.5 phones right because of the htc sense ui and 1 ghz processor. ammm by the way my phone is just 1 week old and im aware of the charging cycles but that was not the case with my blackstone... that phone was really impressive in terms of battery life... any tips guys??? thanks a lot

1) Does this ROM works for my HD2 Which is made in taiwan?
2) Do i need some hacking to get this ROM installed on my unit? if so can you please post steps on how to do it?
3) before i downloaded, the capacity of the ROM is 196MB but when i completed downloaded, it only has about 193MB. What happened to the remaining MB? is this safe to install? if not can you please give me link to where can i get the correct or latest ROM for my unit?
Please, please and please i really need to change my ROM coz its so buggy...

I know I said I would try the US-Tmobile ROM for a week but I’m going back to 1.66ROM now. I use a dual sim card holder and this ROM does not have the auto setup feature for data from SIM like the factory international HD2 ROMs have with internal database. And I not going to put in settings every time i switch SIM’s through the card holder interface.

I've gone into the settings and adjusted it all but I still can't hear when on handset.
Wat other possible reasons are there?
And do you know about the alarm volume?

If you use 1.6.1
I can safely say the performance of 1.7.1 is the same if not better than 1.6.1. But 1.7.1 allows you to do allot more. Any bugs you may have are the bugs you already have on your phone.
Get 1.7.1

Ok the “US t-mobile” ROM is working on my international factory HD2.
And I will start by saying I am boarder line if I will be keeping it or not but I will try to use it for a week before I make my final decision.
Had a bad head ache so I did not install anything on it as yet.
Likes....
1. I got the extra RAM
2. I got the voice recorder I want.
3. Still have all the home tabs of the international version with the addition of the “Recent Documents” tab which works allot better than I have seen in any early cooked ROM (but I have no use for this one.)
4. It comes with voice commands
Dislikes....
Let me start by saying I don’t live in the US and that does affect some of my dislikes.
1. Loaded with a heap of software that you can only use if you are in the US, like (Visual VoiceMail, TeleNav, Mobile Backup, BN eReader, slacker Radio, Blockbuster, MobiTV
2. Digital compass in US version is strip down. There is no way I can open it from a GEOtagged picture to get a distance and angular direction to the location. There is no way I can open Google maps from it to pick a location on the map to get an angular direction and distance (this is useful to me who can’t get Tom Tom maps or anything like that for my area. And when you go some areas you can’t get a data cell signal to use Google maps)
3. Comes with a flash light app that I think is lame to the one I was using. This one has an interface and gives you a demo every time you start it. So you can’t get the light right away. And when you leave the interface the light turns off. (So, e.g. if you are outdoors in the dark and need to dial a # that is on a piece of paper, there is no way to have the flash on and dial at the same time.)
4. Mp3 clipper was taken out. (no more clipping mp3’s on the go for friends to use as ring tones from my mp3 library
5. Foot prints still link to Google maps but not to digital compass.
6. Don’t like the girly pink start-up logo lol
Now I’m going to see how much of the crap ware (to me) I can take off. How much of my old software will still work on it and how stable it will be with the extra load.
