Anthony, 03 Apr 2010follow up.. with the use of csmi any ".png" file... moreAt least 2 of my old phones were purchased in US and i used them in asia. No problem with SIM. Only thing is that ...you need to unlock them. Even tmobile does that if you tell them you are going abroad. One more thing, you will have tmobile logo on phone.

Anthony, 03 Apr 2010follow up.. with the use of csmi any ".png" file... moreAnthony,
I'm using MSS converter....its very good program. But "Currency update" does not work. Does it work for you? Whenever i try to update using wifi...it says update failed.

One more thing about HD2 volume control system. Is there any tweaks or trick to make it possible to increase/decrease volume in 1 increment or decrease. I tried to increase one bar...it goes all the way up....same thing with slider in "setting" also....it just impossible to slide vol level to my desire. Sometimes goes way up & sometimes way down. Thanks

I see there was no mention of a FM radio. It this because T-mobile took out the software from the ROM? (can be fixed with a mod)
Or is it that HTC took out the hardware for the FM radio (can’t be fixed with a mod)
I ask this because both HTC and T-mobile are known for hiding features.
HTC hide the extra RAM in the international version and I would not be shock if I find out that the extra Rom was hidden as well.
And I was told the T-mobile UK took out the youtube player from there ROM.

Anonymous, 03 Apr 2010Yes, US 3G is hardware based. Yes, the US HD2 is cheaper... moreMy wife likes my phone (big screen is good for farm vill on the go). And when you are using a Nokia 5700 the HD2 looks and feels slick.
She is telling me when I am ready to sell it I can’t. I have to give it to her.
So I’m thinking I could just get US version and give it a try. I have friends that live in the US I just need to know if it was a special sim crap like what they did to the first gen iPhone. But once you say it can be unlocked a change of ROM will do the trick (that is what O2, foda and T-mobile UK people have been doing. i know because i helped some of them do it). And the plan is to use it with the 1.66ROM I don't need the added T-mobile software or any other US stuff that is on it because I don’t live in the US and 1.66ROM is very stable as well. Anything I have added to it was for more features not stability but I want the bigger RAM/ROM, it should let me do more and do it faster with the same 1.66ROM I have now.(and the smaller price :-))
This is a list of what I have added to the phone...
See if any of them is of use to you...

                        1. .net CF 3.5 (i don’t know if the US version came with it preinstalled but it is need for some 3rd party apps)
                        2. CoOkie’s Home Tab – up to 75 quick links on 3pages, call history on clock page, 5 spots for calendar on clock page.
                        3. CHTEitor – to customise Co0kie
                        4. CSMI – so I can use my own (better looking to me) icons for the programs on the phone.
                        5. XDA Background4AllTabs – to get the clock screen picture I have to show in all the other tabs not just the clock screen.
                        6. Data Controller – to over ride the phone ability to auto connect to my SIM data service whenever it need online info. (with this I say when it can and can’t use my sim)
                        7. 100% battery - to see battery usage in 1% increments in the same place every one just have 4 bars.
                        8. Touch X 50% Opaque calendar Tab – does what the name say
                        9. Touch X Longpress sendkey Alt tab. – give the phone a PC like alt+tap feature that works by holding the answer key (a multi-tasker dream come true)
                        10. Touch X music tab controls transparent – does what the name say
                        11. OpnMarket – it’s like market place but for only FREE apps
                        12. MMTaskManger - better looking/finger friendly task manger
                        13. Midomi – same thing like shazam but totally free.
                        14. Skyfire Browser – for web sites that have flash or javascript.
                        15. S2U2 – a feature filled slide to unlock to replace the default slide to unlock
                        16. BsB Tweaks – to turn on/off hidden settings
                        17. ChangeScreen – to get the landscape mode and keyboard in the other programs that only have portrait by default.
                        18. HTC ZIP – to open and make zip files on the phone.
                        19. RT – so I can find my phone if someone takes it. (It really does work, had to use it to get back my Qtek many years ago.)
                        20. TorchButton – to use the flash like a torch light.
                        21. TileTech Dictionaries – a definitions dictionary that does not need net access.
                        22. MSS Converter – a Unit converter that does not need net access.
                        23. Updated Google maps – version 4
                        24. Updated Windows Live - i wanted the new messenger.
                        25. GoolgeTranslator – language Translator (because the world is a very small place)
                        26. CorePlayer – for more video codec’s than what came with the phone.
                        27. qwertyMemory – so I can visually monitor my RAM from the task bar

the phone came with the rest of apps i need.

Regarding tmobile htc hd2, here is the trick but for this you need to have some friends or relatives.
If you anybody in US, tell them to buy in 2 yrs contract($199). Once you get the phone, wait for 1 month. Pay the first month bill(about $70) and after that call tmobile customer service that you want to cancel contract. The early termination fee is $170 (I think). Then hd2 is all yours. I am telling this coz I already did with my old nokia phone but it was 1 & half yrs ago.

Selling in America from only ONE network (and a poor one at that). Yet, you say it's the worst... Basically, calling most consumers, critics and techs foolish/stupid. Some people just want to see the proclaimed/considered top fall just because. I cheer for the underdog too, but the iPhone IS a good phone. You don't have to deny it's capabilities in order to praise/choose/desire another more.

Anthony, 03 Apr 2010It could have been, you live in the US so you wanted the US... moreYes, US 3G is hardware based.

Yes, the US HD2 is cheaper than an unlocked non-US HD2 version.

If you don't care about having 3G, you can get the US phone, unlock it, and you'll certainly have access to data Edge connection.

The ROM is so stable (at least for me) that I don't even have to bother putting other ROM.

You can always try to put another ROM in the US HD2 to see if you can get better stability with 3G connection outside the US.

Personally, I have waited that long for the US 3G ability. If you really don't care about 3G, I would think of getting something smaller like an Omnia II or X2 for the wife.
