AnonD-23532, 29 Mar 2012Hey guys what do u suggest HTC HD2 or Nokia 500??OLD with dead OS phone VS OLD with lame, close to dead OS Phone.
I see you are a lover of the older girls :)
I say the HD2 is the better of the 2 has-beens; you could still try to keep it in the game of modern smart phones with an Android cooked ROM.

makana, 28 Mar 2012i am in need of recycling my htc hd2. because i had problem... more4 ways to recycle your HD2
1. Use it as a 4.3inch Garmin Nav unit.
2. use it as mp3 player at the GYM with blue tooth ear buds
3. With the right app it can be a LED torch light.
4. Give it for free to some one that wants it more than you.

blizs, 28 Mar 2012Hi, am planning to buy this phone. Just wanted to know if t... moreThe description good to describe battery live is relative. It depends on what you considers good. Good for you may be “ok” or me and horrible for the next person.
Android will not improve perforce, is still going to perform like a HD2.
With Android OS On a phone with a single core 1GHz scorpion CPU and 448mb of RAM
Keep in-mind that a GSII has a dual-core 1.2 GHz CPU and 1gb of RAM
And a new HTC One X runs Android on a Quad-core 1.5 GHz CPU and 1gb of RAM
Improved performance on the HD2 is gained by installing an optimised cooked ROM or by having the last ROM made by HTC installed on it which is the 3.14.xxx.x and stripping out all the bloat-wear
Don’t confuse Performance with functionality
When you install and Android on an HD2 it’s because you decide you want to use android apps that you can’t get in window mobile.
Newer versions of Android are more demanding on resources than old windows mobile OS, so what do you think that dose for performance if you can’t change the hardware in the HD2?

TupiX, 22 Mar 2012You just forgot to mention it's possible to install Android... moreSmall correction to your statement
You can’t have all 3 OS at the same time.
You can have WM6.5 and Android or WP7 & Android.
You phone only has one ROM chip and only one OS can be on it at a time. Of the 3 only the Android OS is capable of running off the SD card to give you multiple OS at the same time.
And the point I was making about buying a HD2 now is….
If you never used WM6.5 or older before no point in buying a phone with that OS now. Because it’s a dead OS to the software market and the maker of the OS more than a year now. So buying a HD2 now is not really future proofing your self.

mrmcphisto, 22 Mar 2012Anthony, is a HD2 italian, i was trying to flash android, n... moreOk..
You trying to install a NAND Android ROM and you got stuck.
But you didn’t say exactly where along the steps you got stock. Was it before of after you installed MAGLDR?
I can see you never get the HSPL installed because the #s you gave still only say SPL in front of them. What version of HSPL were you trying to install? And on what version official HTC ROM where you trying to install it?
Knowing everything you did up to the point where you got stuck, will help greatly in telling you what method to use to restore your phone. Or even get Android on it.
Or you could just say “F” that and do as TASK 29 which will totally wipe the phone ROM chip and start from scratch. It’s not complicated to do if you can follow instructions to the “T” and you know the ROM version that you originally had on the phone.
You said it was it was Italian but that is not a ROM #.
Was it 3.14.408.2 or 1.66.408.1 or was if a provider phone with some other # ? this is IMPORTANT…..
So which way do you want to go?
Make a decision and get back to me with answers to the questions. It’s the only way I can get you out of your mess. BTY try to keep the battery charged. Take it out of the phone if you have to.

For the record, I'm with you, still using WM6.5 (Xperia X1a) and I don't see another OS to replace it!

iPhone 4 or H... moreThere is no point in getting a HD2 now.
It’s been discontinued over a year now. HTC has stopped software support for the device and Microsoft has even stopped support of the OS. If you can wait a bit, I would say buy a WP8 phone when that comes out later this year. Other than that, just go android. WM6.5 is a dead, only me and a small few still like to use it. And all the talk about you can put Android on a HD2 is only good for the people that already have it. Not a selling point for some one looking for a new phone.
