HTC used QSD8250 1GHz chipset in the HTC TOUCH HD2. However, the Snapdragon's 720p High-Definition video decoding was disabled on the HTC HD2, because its operating system, Windows Mobile does not recognise HD video.

At first I thought that Vodafone had simply ordered too many iPhones and were worried that they wouldn't be able to shift them but having seen the large number of continuing problems with this handset and the constant supply shortages I can see why they would drop it. There is no point having a hot phone in stock that constantly requires replacement when the manufacturer doesn't have the stock to replace the faulty devices. It's a loose loose situation.

If anyone wants one on Vodafone you can get it through Phones4U or through Carphone Warehouse or through an online store.

The ROMS from the networks are basically the vanilla HTC ROMs with a background set, the GPRS, MMS, SMS and voicemail settings in place and in at least one case a program removed.

The only issue is that Vodafone and T-Mobile seem to be using the 1.43 ROM when the 1.48 is available (I didn't check the version of the O2 ROM) - one of the reasons I hate branded phones.

However if you go to Xda-Developers you will see people with numerous problems with all versions of the ROMS (1.43, 1.48 and the unreleased 1.61).

In some cases the problems are reduced by applying user produced fixes (and sometimes they just make it worse).

I've never seen a phone released with so many problems.

I'm loving my HD2, and thanks to Anthony and others there is a wealth of tips here as well as on the XDA site. Had no issues with the phone itself, though the screen takes a bit of getting used to as it's quite sensitive. Had the N97 before this and the HD2 is miles better. The XT9 works a treat especially when you use the spelling corrections, and those with large fingers may find it useful to switch to phone keypad mode so that the keys are larger and easier to hit.

Haven't heard anyone mention Teeter - is it only me who plays it? :P

For those of you having problems sending texts - forget about the hotfix from HTC - only a short term solution which doesn't always work (HTC told me to switch my phone off then on and send another text - that then bumps the rest in to life) not exactly what I wanted to hear.

Vodafone have a thread about the problem:

                      http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=42505

They will either offer you a new handset (within a certain time limit) or offer you a like for like phone (again within a certain time limit).

Sorry but the HTC HD2 has turned out to be a serious let down. Not knocking Windows over Android just the phone itself.

Now - what do I choose as a replacement???

                                  Hi Anthony ,

I am using dvd catalyst 3 ( retail version) to convert movies . it takes approx 3 hrs to convert a 3hr film .

i am just selecting my device , not tweaking any settings while converting . is there any way to lessen the conversion time ?

In handbrake if i chose mp4 over h.264 it converts in one hour . h.264 takes 2.5 hours .

so should i do the same in dvd catalyst 3 to reduce the conversion time? the default conversion format when u click on " modify" for leo is " ipod format" and there are several other conversion formats listed.

everything looks the same as it would on my pc . i mean the word , excel files to start with .

the nexus is extremely extremely fast and with an amazing screen . but so far i havent even been able to make something as simple as skype work on it .

will play with the nexus for a few days and put it up for sale. my only fear is the maybe htc will back off from putting win 7 on the leo and the new ones that it launches with win7 preloaded will be much better and faster !!! but thats just an assumption on my part ..
from a 4 month POV ,the htc trophy though looks like a very practical and perfect business phone to me !!

So if I had to pick only one between the two you called, I would pick the one that had more of what I need to help me with my work now, not in the next 6 mounts. Because in the next 6 mounts I could sell the phone once I keep it in good condition if something that meets more of my needs come out. The nexus looks cool and voice to text is great but I did not see any videos of it being used in a word.doc or .docx file and that is where I would really want it, for dictation. Not to fill out a web form. So until that SDK is made and I can get the 3rd party programs I need.. Really what is the point of that phone?
I need a Pocket PC not a Pocket Netbook.
But before any one starts to talk crap… that is my needs, I can’t tell you what is yours….
