THe battery will last longer using windows but that OS sucks, so go for android but install it on the ROM not SD card that takes lots of battery consumption.
on ROM you will have a decent battery life.
by the way with Android the phone rocks big time

If your ROM is not 3.14 upgrading to 3.14 will improve battery life because 3.14 has better CPU power management and more efficient radio drivers . Among other bug fixes and software updates.
Other things you can do to save battery power is.....
Turn off Bluetooth & wifi when you are not using them.
Install “XT Hack Beta2” and use it to manually switch the phone from Auto 3G to GSM 2G which uses less power.
Also use it to turn on “Optimized batter life” for better hardware management.

andi, 24 May 2011Is this ROM you are using includes Sense UI? As I mentioned... moreIts a minimalist and fast pure Android rom. There are NAND sense UI builds check: forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=743

Nand builds are faster than SD card builds and give better battery life IMO but choose whichever you prefer. I use live wallpapers, watch anime (using mobo player, awesome app), listen to music and surf net and still get a day of battery life

Without using the phone (fully charged to 100%), after 5 hours I've got 50% battery remaining. This is a stark contrast of Windows 6.5 that after 5 hours without using it, I've got 97% of battery.
