It is a real risk of using unofficial or cheap batteries. Better get a portable mobile phone charger or wait for an official extended battery (ofcourse we have to compromise with the size change).

        Hope HTC understands our problem.

        Cheers!

jhulz, 10 Mar 2011at rusty, i have still 3 months for the warranty before it... morewhen i broke the display on one of the HD2. i just call the closest repair center to me which was in the US (I don't live in the US)
only paper i sent with the phone was a copy of the bill and the RMA info. the change of screen was free. i just had to pay for shipping.
so go to the htc web site and pick a country closest to you and get the support or repair #. and you will get all the info you need from them.

Can change your flavor when ever you want..)... I use WM6.5 and Android on my HD2. Don't like WP7 look. Will see what WP8 looks like in 2012.... If WP8 doesn't look good, I'll look to Android then....

I have been using HTC HD2 more than 1 year now (since January 2010) so far I am very happy with it. I have Cookies Home Tab 2.0.0. My HTC HD2 Rom Version is 1.66.415.4. Official release of the extended battery pack comes with a 2300mAH Battery, Back Cover with a Kick Stand (costly though!).
Note: Phone size will become big. Google as HD2 Extended Battery

Other unofficial releases with different ratings like 1600mAH.. also available which is pretty good extension for our daily usage and no change in the phone size as well.

Alternatives: Portable mobile chargers or buy another 1230mAH battery for backup.

                    Cheers,

                        Hi All,

I bought this computer a.k.a phone 4 months before. All I want to say is this is one legendary phone i ever had. Bigger screen, good touch sensitivity, pretty enough external memory support, great processor, slim to keep in pocket, smooth video playback, smooth 3d graphics, no worries about 65k colors, multiple operating system support, USB HOST is working great in Ubuntu Linux. we can connect almost any usb devices like mouse, keyboard, pendrive, ext hdd.... Not yet tried in winmobile and android. Android 2.2 / 2.3 works awesome with this phone. 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth are working great. Sound quality is awesome but we have to buy a better ear phone. Battery backup is pretty decent for this well equiped device (extended battery is also available in market - better for Android). GPS is faster and stable. Rebooting the phone everyday will make winmobile to perform better (rebooting the phone daily will never hurt!)

Supported OS: WM6.x, WP7, Android, Meego, Ubuntu, Win 95/98 (emulation), is this not enough?

There are lot of people playing around with this legendary phone and brought out tons of ultimate stuffs already. Thanks and all the best to all developers!

                        Cheers,

For those of you that value your HD2
Install Remote tracker. And tack time to setup everything in it and practice using it.
Got my HD2 stolen 27th of February and thanks to Remote tracker, the police and a few friends working in the right places. I got my HD2 back yesterday the 8th of March.
Key feature of RT is it sends a sms to an alternate phone of your choice letting you know the new SIM # and IMSI # for what the person puts in your phone so you can still track or get address information if you talk to the right people.

@jhulz - If you say that it frequently heats up, this means for sure that your HD2 has a hardware problem, it may be something with it's motherboard inside, maybe when for example it fell down on a hard surface or smth & some components inside it moved from it's place a little bit, & that may be the causing of overheating, & of course if it overheats, it will not stay for long turned on, because I don't know if it's right but the temperature sensor detects that the temperature gets over the limit & it signals the device to automatically turn off to prevent damage to the CPU or motherboard. So I say that you better go to an HTC Service Center & they will see what's the problem with your HD2, but I can say that most probably it is a problem with your motherboard or some components which moved a little bit from it's place & it is causing this overheat which doesn't allow you to use your device normally..

@Saniya - Of course it is possible, I tried it, if you mean 'Windows Phone 7', then yes it's possible, but I'm now staying on Android 2.2 OS because I rather prefer Android than Windows Phone 7, but if you're really interested, here's what you have to do:

*Notice: You have to backup everything you have on your microSD card, because installing Windows Phone 7 on the HD2 will format everything on your MicroSD card.

                                        1. Download HSPL Package from here, just read please carefully the instructions there, & then download depending on your SPL Version the specific package, it may be HSPL3_PKG.. & install it by following the instructions on PC & hold Volume Down Button + Power Button on the HD2 while connected via USB to PC, be careful, you must install 2.08.hspl on your HD2, so download HSPL3_PKG, it is included in the link I gave you where you must read carefully & download the attached files.
                                        2. After installing 2.08.hspl, download this: http://cotulla.pp.ru/leo/Android/DFT_LEO_MAGLDR113_DAF.rar , then install it by following the instructions in the Setup on PC, remember that the HD2 must be connected to the PC always via USB.
                                        3. After installing MAGLDR 1.13 in the step 2, just download this: http://www.multiupload.com/TH7C5PRB18 ,
then turn off the HD2, & then power it on again, & while powers on, hold for long the Power Button & you see that you've entered the MAGLDR 1.13 bootloader, from there, choose "5. USB Flasher", then press Green Button, & again, the device must be connected via USB to PC, & run "DWI.exe" from the link I gave you, & just install it on your HD2 via USB from PC.. & you're done, it should work fine !

PS: You must have Radio 2.15.50.14, if you don't have this Radio Version just install it, or if you're not sure which Radio you have, don't worry, you can simply install it over: http://www.multiupload.com/QP0IWGY42F
