but i rolled back to stock eclair, customs are far advance compared with the stock but not as user friendly with the latter one. but this is only according to my own opinion of course..
i just activated the wifi tether, equipped it with minfreemanager and atk, now it performs lightning fast..
and im happy and contented with it..for now..

look at all these haters. this is a great phone!
stop comparing it to the new phones that are coming out! it's a fantastic phone and though I wouldn't recommend it as much just because there are great phones out nowadays, it is NOT a bad phone at all.

Anonymous, 08 Oct 2010 I am using HTC Hero for last 2 months and I am happy with... moreAbout 2.1 Eclair update..seems you from India. If ou have bought this handset locally from India then you need to go to Settings > About Phone > System Software Updates & then click on Check Now for update, It will give you the update for Eclair.

I bought this handset in India and the same day I checked for update and it gave me update for 2.1.

Would advise you to download the update from WiFi...as its a big file and take s long long time to download through GPRS.

                                    2) You can download the SYNC software from the memory card that came with HTC Hero, it has the set up inside. How ever for the New Sync update, you can download from Asia 2( dnt knw the differnece as for me its working.)

I am using HTC Hero for last 2 months and I am happy with it's performance, but I need some quarries. Those are as follows,
                                      1. I want to download the new sync software from HTC site which needs the location code. like ASIA 1 or
Asia 2. Now my question is if I am from India which zone is this ASIA 1 or ASIA 2??
                                      2. I want to upgrade my hero software from Android OS, v1.5, to Android 2.1 (Eclair). From where and how can I do this?? what is the process??

                                      Please can anyone help me?

Im a Hero user and very happy with the product.

I was using Nokia E-72 before Hero and my GPRS was working 24/7 on my cell using Nokia Messaging service and it NEVER EVER showed any sign of heating on any part.

But in Hero using GPRS for even 15-20 minutes heats the back of the handset to a considerable amount and which scares at times.

But then I have made myself used to be Off GPRS on phone when not needed as Im VERY HAPPY with Hero n especially Android
