I have Android 2.2 & i get just 1 days battery life, even though i have installed juicedefender that is supposed to help with battery life.
The battery life is very very poor, but I still love the phone & currently I think it is the best android phone on the market. I hate the current 4.0" or larger screen sizes

Ive both iPhone 3GS n htc hero. I take it over iphone coz it can play flash. and bound to limit.

I never said HTC Hero is the best for today! but it was...
Mind it HTC Hero was the real HERO when it was released (obiously not today). There was no SNAPDRAGON prossesor, AMOLED display etc on the anyothe SMARTPHONES when it released. there was very few handset with capacitive touchscreen & multitouch support (only HTC Hero, SE Xpreria X10, Motorola Droid X, Omnia HD & iPhone) when it released. UNDERSTOOD??????????
Search Capacitive touch under WIKIPEDIA.
One day will come to you that, unreleased "HTC Desire Z", "Desire HD" will become ZERO. & Hero will vanish by time but they have drown their glory in history of smartphone. So, DO NOT compare HTC Hero with HTC Desire HD.
Don't worst your valuable time here if you have not any HTC Android or have not plan to buy from HTC!
Please DO NOT WRITE ANYTHING HARSH BEFORE USE IT. It seems you are unfamilier with android device! Do you know what's the quality of HTC hero? It's the faster android device ever when it's released! It reworded for "PHONE OF THE YEAR 2010" in MWC by GSMA. And its competetor was Nokia N97 mini. Its proved that it has advantages over any Nokia phone ever released even over iPhone 3GS.
It was also called real iPhone 3GS KILLER (not confused with iPhone 4G) rather than ZERO!If you really had used this real HERO, Please make sense of time!

greghost, 07 Oct 2010i notice lately my HTC hero when i connected usb to compute... moreif after restart with your hero and computer it stays the same, probably you need to hard reset..
with my hero, i got a slight problem also. everytime i open my internet, when the signal is weak, the phone keeps on restarting..if i have at least 2-3 bars and it is working fine.. but this is not happening before.

i notice lately my HTC hero when i connected usb to computer it charges only(no icon),the USB icon does not even come up the computer say usb not recognized ,also cant Bluetooth again,only to android phones,i contacted HTC they say hard reset it,anybody has any input into my situation.i have the up to date windows syn what is the issues really.

or you can directly go to file you are going to share, press menu, share, bluetooth, phone will prompt to open bluetooth and search and pair with the device you are going to share the file with.
this only works on android 2.1
on 1.5 you need to have 3rd party bluetooth FTP, to perform, follow 3rd party app instructions..

This is an old fashioned phone like old heavy solid cars having looks but no comfort and functionality as compared to modern technology, it has poor colors and resolution and at the same time its hanging problem really mess up everything.

Hero is an average, and bit over weight and over sized as compare to sets of these days, secondly as its keys start malfunctioning specially the menu keys soon ware out and repairing is required soon after few months of purchasing it.

For me a damn good phone, solid in operation and feels like a phone in your hand. The recent upgrade from Andriod 1.5 to 2.1 gave this handset a breath of life. The sense interface becomes almost instinct and the phone was easy to interface to the PC for synching.
No doubt the new handsets make this look like an old timer, but the Hero backs up its names sake and stands out from all other paddle handsets for me

I would not agree that this is a bad phone because in-fact its the WORST phone ever, that slows down and gives an a horrible experience of using a phone with a jet speed to a snail speed in one go....hahahaha

I used this phone for a month before shifting to Xperia, HERO really exhausts in days and its ram and battery performance reduces,every passing day, its really a burden on one's pocket and in ones pocket after buying this twisted monster :)

It is the worst phone ever. It takes me anywhere from 10 secs to 3 minutes to dial out.(not an exageration)And thats with a task killer opperating. The Battery life sucks and it gets worst as the phone ages.I would never recomend this phone to anybody!

htc used to make hardware for imate n then with the help of windows OS n google OS, stealing trackball style from blackberry, started launching its own wonders which are even worse than imate.

HTC ZERO really SUCKS because
It is 14.4 mm thick AND Weight 135 g (one of the thickest &heaviest phones) BUT Display is only 65K colors with Screen size only 3.2 inches while Iphone has 3.5” with the same weight.
Trackball is so much out of the mobile body so it is kept pressed when in your pocket.
Speakerphone is pathetic.
Internal RAM is 288 MB which remains about 70 MB after some usage and multi tasking, making phone very slow.
Micro SD is not included with such a costly mobile.
No Infrared port.
Camera without a flash so at night u feel like a fool if asked to use it AND Pathetic Video quality @15fps AND No Secondary camera AND No Radio AND White Color (becomes dust coated)
Has Dedicated search key which gives a strange sense of emptiness on the other side of out-dated trackball AND talk time and standby time is not as stated.
