CPW lad, 14 Mar 2010I bought the HTC Hero with full confience that it was an ip... moreI've had mine approx 7 months, I'm presuming you must have the ROM update which assists with this... as you know official 2.1 release due very soon.... I'd take Hero every time over iPhone. hero wins hands down!

hi peeps, does anyone know when v2.1 is gonna be officially available for the hero? am kinda gettin sick of waiting; first i heard it was gonna be feb, then march, now people are suggesting april. get a move on htc.

I bought the HTC Hero with full confience that it was an iphone competitor. However after about 6 months of full usage I find myself disappointed. With the phone full of apps and other data such as contacts, it has slowed right down while just simply navigating the menus. The android operating system is it's saviour with many great free apps available through a simple interface but, i am constantly frustrated by the lag.

How Hero kept me connected to the world.
I was on business trip and my laptop crashed. For 5 days, the only gadget I had was the phone which kept me connected. No wonder why the phone's name is Hero...definely my Hero..

awwwww wow!!!!! This phone is so gooood i actually love the vibrating system on this thing, mannn does it feel goood i take it everywhere with me its lyk my little personal friend :) that little curve on the bottom is just the cherry on the cake for me, ya see my girlfriend dosent get out much shes locked up in my loft i needed something that was a good replacement so i thought about a hero instantly

I've had my HTC Hero since October '09, there are obviously a few cons, like a shocking camera which i wasn't at all happy about. But it's getting slower, and i'm having more and more problems with it, some include:
- plug earphones in, take them out, the phone sometimes thinks they're still conected.
- sometimes gets stuck on a certain signal bar and cant make calls or texts
- making a call (with visible signal)and not being able to hear dialling tone.. conecting with recipiant, and not being able to hear anything, literally blank.
- touch screen can sometimes take ages to react to your touch.
Basically i want to find out if there's anything i can do, can i download updates??

@adi: Hey i got it form hyderabad. The prices has come down a lot. just 2 weeks back. before that it was 29k. Still the present price is 29k in Lcknw? that doesnt look good. i got it for 22200Rs.. Best of luck pal..:-)

i am using hero already for a month and i am still excited about my phone. though there are couple of problems:
1) htc is very slow on releasing Android 2.0 or 2.1 (still working with good old Android 1.5);
2) overall kind of responsive, but still quite slow and laggy, for example at switching from portrait to landscape keyboard layout.
3) poor camera (pictures are just terrible) and video total disaster, no flash;
4) peep (original twitter client is total crap, but still the android market is full of other good twitter clients)
5) htc phones have not European language keyboard layouts (just some)
HTC have to stop producing new phones every week (looks like they are trying to guess clients wishes and needs) and take care about all kind of gadgets they have released (but the main client whish is that they take care and ensure propper client support in aftersales)
