this phone would hav been better if APPLE lets HTC to add multi touch 2 it. it kills iphone already but it dusnt hav 3.5mm. no big deal, the earphone is good quality but u may complain about the bass thing but overall, it is really good. at least, this smart phone can multi-tasking.

I tried the phone in Taiwan
It's a cool device I admit, but mainly because it's android OS not the plastic thing itself. Any manufacture can come out one with a better body. I found it not worth this price.

Phone doesnt actually have video calling but a great phone otherwise. WOuld definately give it a go if I could part with my blackberry!

I was given this phone a few days ago for showing up at a conference, so I can't comment on the price point.
I can tell you that it takes less than 10s to make an iphone user feel bad when you show them the phone.
Personally, I'm not sure which is better for an end-user, as they're both very close in functionality (although the G2 (aka HTC Magic) is a bit smaller and lighter, lets you record video and send MMS, change the battery, upgrade the microSD card, and all those basic things pretty much every phone but the Iphone is expected to do.)
What makes this little machine sexy for me is the open platform. No mac-only developer SDK, no closed OS, no painful approval process to get applications listed. It runs Linux, and the whole source is available to play with.
As a side-note: Someone commented earlier the USB cable wasn't allowing file transfer between the phone and the PC. In my experience it works seamelessly on Macs and on Vista PCs, but if you use windows XP you will need to install the drivers that are distributed with the android SDK. Not an awesome user experience there, but I suppose people that can afford those phones aren't expected to be using an 8 years old desktop OS.

Definitely not worth the price with this building material and open Android OS.
Wait for it to go down under $500, or grab an iphone 3g instead.

These taiwanese must think they are big, and all foreigners are stupid.
They grab an open source OS and add some cheap plastic, and they want people to pay a laptop price for this cheap crap, give me a break.
I wish more WM and android phone companies come out soon and lower all HTC's inflate phone price.

i have this phone a few days now and find an absolute pleasure to use.
the touchscreen in bright, clear and responsive.
the apps for it are either free or cheaper than what is available for the iphone. i have an itouch so by comparisson they are pretty much on an equal level to each other. the camera on the magic is obviously higher spec, however it is not the fastest to take a pic, the nokia 5800 is same spec but takes a faster, high resolution pic.
i have found a few probs thus far, the bluetooth is for headset connection only, but after speaking to htc they have said they are looking into an update to change this. also when i have connected it to my laptop i have not been able to transfer files to the phone. although it is poss that this is a faulty unit, i am getting it exchanged in several days to find out for sure.
but all that aside, this phone is the nuts to use. great audio on calls, text conversations, hundreds of available FREE apps, great touch screen, auto switch to wifi, love it.

iphone rocks, no way in hell this phone is even going to come close, 50 buckz this phone will have a shyt load of problems.

The display is on a par with the iphone in every way. Hence the reason that all of my friends with an iphone want one of these. There are some apps that are useless but loads that are great such as Shopsavvy, I player, Movie finder, Fotmob, and quikpedia. Also i have never seena smart phone with so little lag even when running multiple apps.

It's a good looking phone,few Android features are great but the Acceleration are not good as i-phone.The screen (display) quality also very poor.you hardly can see things when you play an youtube video.Although most of the applications are free which is great but they are not very useful or complete.
