There is no texture or special finish to enhance the grip. You have to get a case for the phone for its protection and grip.Check ebay for slim cases that will enhance the look of phone too.

Now I have two months holiday. So I can come here more often. Yeah, M8 and S5 are great phones. Thanks for remind that error.

            I highly concern on new Xperia Z3 and iPhone 6. I'm not a fan of phablet phones, but I hope Note 4 will be much more promising that the Galaxy S5.

              7oda, 01 Aug 2014what is meant by Dual 4 MP ?The phone has 2 camera sensors at the back. One is the main sensor which functions as the camera. It has a 4 megapixel 1/3 inch sensor. The other one is depth sensor which is used for hippy effects to be turned off after 1 use. It is a 1/5 inch 2 megapixel sensor and it is good for nothing.

              The best camera is arguably the front facing one with a 5 megapixel sensor. It takes better pics than the rear one.

              If you care about the camera, don't buy m8. It has a below average camera. Otherwise, is a great phone. If you want a great camera, go for s5. If toy want a smooth phone with a fat and non bloated software, go for m8.

                QHD : QUAD HD or 1440 by 2560
                And qHD : quarter HD or 540 by 960

                G3 has QHD and not qHD.

                S5 LTE is the normal snapdragon 801 s5. The better version of s5 with QHD and s805 is S5 LTE-A.

                Regarding the 4k recording, s5 heats up much less than z2. I've tried them both. S5 makes it thorough 5 minutes easily while z2 falters around 2-3 min. Regarding the m8, it comes with s801 AC in my country so we get the better version. Yay!!!!!!!

                We'll have many more of these talks in the future when we new phones are launched. S5 and m8 are just too close to call and it's more about the personal preference.

                  [deleted post]It's not like that. If you compare HTC One X display with Galaxy S3 display, without any doubt HTC One One X is the clear winner. The S3 display is so bad with yellow tint and too over saturated colours. I wish if HTC M8 had an OLED panel. New Samsung OLED panels are not that much worse. Samsung has hugely improved their OLED panels. Now they are quite natural, but not as LCD or IPS panels.

                  Everything depends according to your personal preference. According to my opinion too natural colours are too dull. HTC should saturate the colours little bit more like the IPS panel on the Xperi Z2. At the end of the day HTC is the best in non-Amoled displays and Samsung is the best in Amoled category.

But I have told you from the beginning that I'm not much concern about specifications. I highly concern about the real-world performance. If I concern about specs, then I could have end up with buying Galaxy S5 Octa-core version. Yeah, LG G3 is completely a fail. Galaxy S5 LTE is the best qHD display phone so far with a better s805 processor and an Adreno 420 GPU. LG was too early to release a qHD display and the hardware is not compatible with qHD display. I feel sorry about LG.

                        There are three versions of s801 processors.

                        1) Qualcomm MSM8974
                        2) Qualcomm MSM8974AB
                        3) Qualcomm MSM8974AC

                        AB and AC versions are clearly better than the original MSM8974 version. I have read many reviews, articles about AB and AC versions. All of them have mentioned that you will hardly discover the any difference of the performance, it's just a small clock speed difference on processor and GPU. When I was using the Galaxy S5 and HTC M8, I never found that Galaxy S5 outperform the M8 in performance. Let's assume that's because of the heavy, bloated Touchwiz. I even watched reviews on YouTube, the Google edition of these phones. Still never found any difference. It's just a Qualcomm's marketing gimmick. It's just like that Intel design i7 processor with two clock speed as 3GHz and 3.4GHz and marketing that 3.4GHz is superior to 3GHz version. However, aware people exactly know what is it and how they are distinguish each other. Most people would choose the 3GHz over the 3.4GHz version. Because their is no need to spend more on minor clock speed.

                        According to my experience with the S5, I have even faced the 4k video recording recording trouble over 4 minutes. The phone is overheating and close the camera app automatically. But I think that problem is not anymore on the Galaxy S5 LTE.

                        Regarding the Wolfson DAC on the S4 Octa-Core version. I even checked it. Anyway, Qualcomm uses their own DAC in their soc's. If it's anything like the s4 Qualcomm vs Exynos situation then they should both be excellent. Most audiophiles hardly hear a difference between the two. The real advantage of Wolfson comes with audio mods. May be Wolfson DAC on S4 could outperform the HTC One M7 but can't argue about the M8. Thank god there is no Beats on M8. Actually, Betas on the last year M7 completely destroyed the music quality. HTC phones are better off without Beats. It's just a Bass focus sound lack of surround, echo and voice and natural instrumental sounds. As a heavy music fan, I love natural sounds. HTC M8 is a winner for audiophile people. The Harman Kardon edition of HTC M8 is far more superior. I recommended it to one of my friends and he bought it and showed me. I felt like that I was using an old Nokia N91 many years ago. The best music quality I have ever heard after my old Nokia N91. I blame HTC for not to include that on their international version of M8. It's clearly could have a strong competitive advantage for them.

                        May be we should stop arguing about those specs. We should more concern about the real-world performance rather than specs.

                        We can keep a hope for this year Xperia Z3 and iPhone 6. Let's wait what will happen in the future.

                            My htc one m8 camera is broken. No function. I use default software , camera 360, google camera.... Update 4.4.3 still couldn't function.

                                AMOLEDS have a much wider colour gamut. They are also much more power efficient, faster response time, better sunlight legibility, thinner, have no backlight bleed, can display accurate whites, can adjust the colour fidelity by changing the modes and the typical ones.

                                The only advantage of LCD is that they are cheaper to manufacture.

                                Gone are the days of galaxy s3 when colours were oversaturated and crappy. Now AMOLEDS are more accurate than IPS.

                                    Minor processor speed does make a difference. Actually its more than that. S5 uses the s801 AC which has 2.5 ghz clock for cpu and 578 man for gpu. M8 uses the s801 AB version which has 2.3 ghz cpu and 550 mhz gpu. So the Adreno 330 are not the same.

                                    Regarding the advantages of s801 AC over s801 AB, it's slightly more efficient too and hence there is less heating when recording 4k video. You might have heard the 4k problems with z2 with s801 AB.

                                    Regarding the call quality, m8 is better hands down. But music quality its tough. There is an exynos version of s5 too and it has a Wolfson chip. That's beats the m8 by quite a long shot. Even my s4 exynos beats the m8 due to Wolfson DAC.

                                    The multitasking app on Plaistow uses the floating windows rather than the full versions used in multi window. It's comparable to xperia mini apps but Multi window is miles ahead. Trust me, I use both and multi window is miles better.

                                    I know you are a sensible person unlike a specific person on s5 thread (I won't take his name).

                                    Remember my prediction of g3. It was 100% correct. I can know smartphones by their specs. No need to argue further.

                                    I don't care about any of these phones. Both are just minor iterations of their predecessors. Let's talk when the real updates come in q3 and q4 in the face of iPhone 6, note 4, galaxy f, xperia z3 and z3 compact with real chipsets and a good difference from the q1 and q2 flagships.

The bad thing about amoled is that colours are rubbish. Good for the menus and for most people. If you want colour fidelity, IPS is the way to go, much better colours, even though blacks are not that deep and angles not that perfect.

Amoled displays dont display Real life colors, especially Samsung's SO CALLED SUPERAMOLED, they are just good for deep blacks and for health of eyes! and s5's display just shows OVERcontrast!
