@K$#@+, 17 Jun 2014I am planning to buy (M8). can somebody help me know about ... moredude the cam is actually good...its 4 megapixels nonetheless but the image results are very good....combined with lot of features , user controls , manual mode , and fun effects....this is a very good camera...its easily good enough for sharibg on tge web or showing the images on a 1080p or 2k display.....u wont notice it unless u heavily zoom in or crop a lot or blow the image on a poster....i dont hav any troubles with the camera...low light shooting is fantastic and indoor or party shots are the best......

There is a lot to say about the HTC One M8, but i will try to focus on new things, after few weeks with the 32GB dev edition, there is only conclusion: the M8 is my first Android since the Nexus One where simply there's nothing to fix, the devices works flawlessly, insanely speedy and virtually bugs free everywhere, I had habit to always root (like jailbreak) my Android device to fix the things that bothered me, for example I needed root in order to apply screen-on gestures as the power button was always annoying to reach/press or to boost the CPU in order to play games with no lag (unlike iPhones) but alas out of box HTC for the first time after seven Android flagships fixed all of these issues, gaming? incredibly smooth if you disable power saver (there is even a faster but hidden high performance mode) just try Asphalt 8 and you will instantly be impressed by the high definition ultra smooth and speedy graphics but also the incredible loudness and clarity of those speakers, the audio gets even better with earphones as well, the UI flaws like water as I have never used a screen so responsive to the touch (the phone is currently rated as the fastest ever in terms of latency) and then we have motion gestures which virtually eliminated any need for physical buttons. The camera enjoys a manual mode allowing you to control your shots, for example you can decouple focus from exposure and control shutter speed for the best still life shots coming from a phone and so I find myself with a Dev edition unit, unlocked bootloader out of box and no reason to root the OS!
There are few surprises when coming from the HTC One M7 last year, the numbers might fool you, while the new battery is only rated 300mah over the previous battery it can actually give you 2x the battery life of the M7, the previous phone used to drain a lot in standby, completely eliminated with the new One and it’s new processor, my M8 lasts me between 24 and 48 hours, I never found myself running out of battery except one day where I spent all of it taking pictures: at around 8pm my phone finally crossed 10% in which it switched to extreme power saver, I kept using the phone for phone calls and SMS, once I arrived home at 1am it was still 10%! I have also measured 8 hours of screen-on time using the phone purely for wifi browsing with auto screen brightness and standard power saver. The fooling numbers continue with the 5” SLCD screen as well, despite having lesser PPI than the 4.7” M7 it’s actually a significantly higher quality panel, the contrast, clarity and vibrancy of colors are a lot higher; it’s just a joy; and the glass on top is almost completely transparent.
The camera is a little controversial as it’s only 4MP but still improved over last year, mainly point & shoot exposure is fixed, color balance is perfected and the duo effects compensate for the lack of megapixels, the Ufocus feature (after shooting depth of field capability, similar to Lytro camera) is interesting, it captures over 5 levels of distance separation so you need to spend some time finding the sweet spot with the after focus, the latest HTC gallery update from the playstore brought control over the digital bokeh amount as well. The UltraPixel camera sensor has a pixel two times as big as any of the 13MP+ competitors, it captures a lot more detail in the shade and per pixel, which leads to excellent low light and indoor abilities, in fact in some scenes the camera can see better than your eyes once you use night or manual modes, regarding megapixels I have noticed that due to the high 1:1 pixel quality you can actually upscale photos to matches more smudgy results from 13MP phones (I did that with photoshop so I hope HTC will bring an update with upscaling option) equally important is the camera speed, the focus and shutter is instant, HDRs never suffer from ghosting and motion blur is almost nonexistent. I can write pages about this camera, but instead I will finish with key M8 camera tips:
1- Daylight: it’s always better to rely on point and shoot auto focus, as the phone seems to measure exposure perfectly that way (unlike manually picking focus target which tends to over expose) for distant landscape shots switch to landscape mode for insured focus and increased detail
2- HDR: the inverse of the above tip for HDR, keep holding to lock focus to the brightest spot in the frame for incredibly balanced dynamic range.
3- Low light: reduce max ISO from 1600, as by default it can go as high as 3200! Which produces lower quality results, simply reduce the onscreen max ISO to 800 and you will enjoy the famous UltraPixel low light powers, compensate brightness with EV.
4- Manual mode: incredible photographic control like professional cameras so don’t forget to check it out.
People portrait, closeups, indoor and low light is where this camera excels, limitless fun editing options form the HTC gallery adds even more value BUT if you value distant detail and zoom the most from your smartphone camera you might need to consider other options.
I will finish my review by talking about the design and build quality HTC One is most famous for, the looks of the new M8 instantly outdates the already highly regarded M7 before it, place the phone side by side an iPhone and you will be shocked at how thinner it is, the device is slender and elegant, made of one seamless piece of metal, it just screams quality especially the grey variant, while the device might sound big on paper it’s actually incredibly ergonomic thanks to the rounded curved edges all around. The icing on the cake is actually the IR plastic patch on top, along with the reflective brushed metal edges it adds a cutting edge / futuristic feel to the whole thing. I am sure the design principals of this phone will be copied by all upcoming smartphones this year (like the G3 and iPhone 6). In fact it feels and looks so good that I have failed to find any cover which doesn’t ruin this trait and this brings me to the negative: like any premium object, it must be treated with care if you want it to stay pristine, while all this metal can certainly absorb a lot of shock, it’s certainly not shy to show them! The high quality paint and coating will quickly collect scratches unless you decide to take care of it. The slimness can also be slippery but once you get used to it in your hands it will grip better. I have used so many covers but eventually settled into using it naked with just a pouch for protection. Result: people can’t stop looking at my phone!
Design, build quality, software, screen, sound and battery life are all areas this phone excels at, effortlessly, the much debated Camera will surprise you pleasantly as well in fact it’s a unique camera, megapixels or not if you want an Android exceeding the iPhone’s quality, there is simply no other phone.

However, you can copy-paste any file such as mp3, video, pics and etc... to the SD card. Use Astro File Manager, it will help you to make your all file related tasks.

You can't put this device down. And even if you don't, trust me, you'll have enough battery to last the day. My phone could last 30-48hrs depending on usage. And that extreme power saver surely helps.
Gesture based actions are very helpful too. Swipe, double tap, etc. It's a fantastic phone. The Sense 6.0 UI is very clean too. But the phone can be slippery, so always make sure you have a good grip.
AND THE BOOMSOUND! There's nothing like it. Media on your phone just became more enjoyable. Match that with the 1080p screen. This premium phone is definitely worth the price.

my personal openion is that
htc one m8 is the best smart phone of 2014,
2nd is sony xperia z2.
i am using now both m8 and z2
s5 has overheating issue.
buy m8 if you want best user experience and world best looking smart phone.
buy z2 if you want better camera, big display, water proof

This phone really keeps surprising me everyday, so happy that i own this phone , i was afraid that it would be too big for my hands because i used to feel that a 4.2 was soo big (previous phone) . When i tried the htc m8 i felt that it is normal to use a 5" screen (took me a day or 2 to get used to it )
Overall happy with this phone , htc has done a great job

Guys Pls Help.... Im not able to copy any data using any file manager to my ext sd card ...
it always shows unable to copy/failed...
Pls help as i have formatted the card 2 times ...Heard somewhere that google has made the card read only ...

HTC have built the most beautiful smartphones in the world for the past few years and the HTC One (M8) strictly follows the playbook. M8 is probably the most beautiful smartphone yet, raising the bar set by the yesteryear's One (M7). It's also a true showcase to HTC's leading prowess in industrial design. It looks unmistakenly premium and luxe, and it feels really great in the hand. The build quality is top notch, thanks to nearly all-metal construction and HTC's obsession with perfection. My unit is the gunmetal grey; the hairline finish on the back significantly adds pleasure to the eyes. The subtly curved back improves the grip and makes the device fit my palm like how the heaven has intended. M8 comes with a 5" 1080p display, a slight upgrade to the predecessor but retains the usually beautiful, vivid colors of S-LCD. M8 turns heads from some distance, and sparks wows-and-aaahs upon closer inspection. The Grace Kelly of smartphone realms.
Sound quality ranks M8 among the best (if not the best of the best) smartphones on the market today. Audio output through headset is satisfyingly crisp—listening to Norah Jones' Come Away with Me before sleep feels like a hypnotic experience. The front-firing BoomSound speakers are much improved compared to those on the previous models—it's louder, yet still clear in noisy environments. Call quality has no issue whatsoever.
HTC bring yet another innovation with the Duo camera—yes, two cameras on the back: one 4 MP ('ultrapixel', to be precise) and one to detect depth of field. The ultrapixel is improved, resulting better images in low-lit scenes compared to the original One (M7). Outdoor pictures appear crisp with good color reproduction and details as well. The second camera enables users to create bokeh effect on some pictures after the shooting (there are some pictures of which the effect isn't applicable e.g those taken with macro mode). To put simply: refocusing. This feature is fun to experiment with, and with the latest Gallery update you can control the level of bokeh as you wish. There are more 'fun' features e.g foregrounder, seasons, dimension plus, in-built filters which some people may find useful. It also comes with Smart Flash—two flashes of different colors that reproduce more accurate skin tone in low light shot. Imaging is a department where M8 is rich in features.
Selfie is quite trending these days, and HTC put a 5 MP wide-angle lens front shooter. A perfect group selfie in the dancefloor or at the beach? Checked. Feel you look too chubby on this vanity shot and wish your cheeks were slimmer? Checked.
Zoe is still here, and now with extra kicks. Video recording maxes out at 1080p (sorry, no 4K) with some nifty touches like slow motion. You can compose a highlight video from some photos, videos, Zoes and your own soundtrack with some themes of choice. M8 is a phone that lets out the artist in you.
Sense 6 is much more polished, cleaner and sleeker than previous iteration. Some functionalities stay here, e.g SenseTV and BlinkFeed, with a lot of improvements here and there. You can now pick theme and font to personalize the look and feel of the interface. Sense 6 is an epitome of modern & graceful effort to Android custom UX.
Sense 6 also introduces the Motion Launch—double taps to wake the screen, pressing volume button to launch camera from sleep, etc. I found it very useful at times because these gestures do minimize the contact between thumb finger and power key that is less strategically placed on top of the device.
Performance is fast as lightning and smooth as silk, thanks to quad-core processor ticking at 2.5 GHz (my unit is Asia). Running several tasks at once is no fuss to M8 and gamers sure will love it as well. Battery is decent, running nearly all day long with a single charge in the morning. There's also an Extreme Power-saving Mode that extends battery to days. A perfect solution to avid travellers who do not take many shots for Instagram.
HTC One (M8) is gorgeous inside and out, and easily among the most powerful smartphones you can buy today. It's not revolutionary—and it isn't necessary to be so—but the flagship model is a product of evolution in the right direction. Both HTC and Android evolution, at large. And I can feel more awards are lurking around the corner, imminently waiting to present themselves to this beautiful beast.

Instead of longer profile why not make it thicker. Too long is too cumbersome. More battery size and larger speakers can be designed in. Thicker would be much better.

I have absolutely no problems with this phone , whoever talks about poor image quality obviously hasnt used this phone !
The phones camera , sound , battery life has largely improved without a doubt !

The m8 is an absolute charm , i cant describe how amazing this phone is , the camera is surprisingly sharp ! And the sound is AMAZING literally ! Battery life is the best soo far , i download music and chat on bbm , whatsapp , insta , snapchat . And it lasts for 14 hours of continuous use !
