Okay I will inform you if I happen to have a solution on our problem.
Apparently upon browsing the net about the problem on sdcard for 4.4.2 kitkat, I found out that it is not the manufacturers fault. This is not also a bug, but google lock the permission on android kitkat to write on the second storage card which happen to be our micro sd card.
Not only the HTC are having this issues but also some other brands that upgraded to 4.4.2 kitkat.

i need help finding a site that has instructions and the ROM.
how the flash the original 3.4 ROM back to a HTC ONE MAX that was updated to 4.4
4.4 cripples your SD card slot. and HTC support said they do not do roll backs.
so if i want to go back to 4.3 i have to do it on my own.

today i can't even copy from one location on my SD to a next.
i can't even make a new folder.

but i went to HTC care and they upg... moremy software is 4.4 so going to 4.3 would be a downgrade.
and you say you get 2 days but how much time 2 use spend using GPS NAV software? I can use Waze navigation 3 hours every day easily and GPS is very demanding on any phone, thats why i had a 7000mAh battery on my SIII.

but i went to HTC care and they upgraded my software to 4.3, now the battery lasts for 2 days :)

unlike the claims of other users i need an extended battery case for this phone. but not a flip case because i use a car mount.
my day starts at 5am and by 6pm the battery was dead.
list of things i normally do every day.
1-1.5 hours of waze on my morning drive.
.5-1 hour of netflix on my lunch hour.
the latest eppisode of "THE 404" podcast on tunein app.
45-1 hour of waze on the night drive.
i do other things but the above are done like clock work every day and sadly this battery just can't do all that on a single charge.
i had an SIII with a 7000mAh zerolemon battery before, so i think i was spoilt by that.
o what i would do for an extended battery like that which uses the pogo pins of this phone.

Apparently I have tried hard resetting my one max today and unfortunately the problem still persist. I even tried to format my sd card and still no luck. OTG is working fine but transferring file from internal to usb storage is still a problem. Anyhow thank you for the advise, I am now contacting the HTC technical support team about my issue.

What country are your from? I'm from the Ph... moreI imported my phone. bought it on amazon. It came in chines by default & defaulted to that again when I got the update. (At least I think it was chines, seeing that I didn’t understand the letters)
What file manager app are you using? The first one I installed was called “File Manager” and it worked just fine, so I didn’t even try a next one. It is even working with my USB OTG cable to copy file to my flash drive.
Did you try doing a factory reset? Some time you get bugs after you do a ROM update because sometimes old system files get left behind and conflict with the new system files of the new ROM.
This can be prevented by clearing your cache partition before doing the update on most phones but if you didn't do that, A factory reset and wipe all data from internal storage is your next option.
Just backup your stuff first.

This phones battery life is absolutely enormous...i am a very heavy user and it easily lasts 2 days...a casual user shall easily get it through 5-7 days...very slick and snappy ui...premium design and awesome speakers...

I went to HTC dealer, they reinstalled the android software and now my cellphone is awesome :)
the software version which was installed befor is 4.2.4, they replace it by 4.3
now the battery lasts much much longer
