Yes but Asus looks more powerful and stable to get it under HTC's nose.
HTC would need Non smartphones if they want to make their mark in the cell phone industry.

I'm still a bit skeptical on this unit having GPS, as reported here and on numerous websites. What do they have to win by hiding this info and not telling the truth? besides, the GPS info has not been confirmed by HTC. If it was, I'd have no resrvations buying it.
How would you feel if you bought another phone ONLY because the P3600 didn't have GPS, only to find out that it does!

Too thick, too big, and looks cheap. It is almost impossible to find out what CPU is inside (Samsung what?) Needs more memory!
Very expensive!!!!

I can't believe how many people have posted about the lack of GPS on this phone AFTER the post earlier about the fact that it HAS a GPS receiver built in but it is just disabled for the moment until they put out a software update that will fix the incompatibility between the GSM and the GPS. The update that will enable the GPS is said to be out in early 2007. Please read the previous posts before continuing to bash this product over misinformation! Go to this link if you still don't believe it!

Sorry, I'll wait the next version. Great device, but look at the screen - 240x320 - too small for it. I have Nokia N80 (very disapointed, btw.), and it's 352x416. PDAs this size in 2006 just have to be 480x640. I guess it's marketing again, to sell this for some time then slightly upgrade with display and a couple of small features and refresh sales.

Can someone please post the link to the information on this device having built-in GPS but software disabled?
I'm ready to purchase the P3300/trinity just because of the GPS, so if this model has then I'm sold on this!

It HAS an infrared port. On the bottom of the device.
Check the following link for (the only?) review on the net of the device:

I've just read that the GPS chipset is in the P3600 but has been disabled because of problems with it and the Qualcom radio. In a few HTC will release a software update to enable GPS.

I have been waiting for 5 years for this device, except for one thing.....GPS.
Please, oh please, could you add GPS. I am thrilled about the UMTS, and the small size. I am fine with the lack of keyboard to keep the size reasonable. Better to increase the battery size when you add the GPS. I would even sacrifice the front camera for it. TMobile US just won a bunch of UMTS bandwidth, which should be implemented soon. So please think of us! I would buy now if this had GPS.
