hope htc does not wait too long launching the snap as there seems to be a market now for it but if this comes out after the summer there will be other better alternatives.

htc good job. i am a qwerty phone user and am bored of the blackberry bold and all the other blackberries. they are boring phones and just got rid of my 8900 and the bold. the alternative was going to be the samsung c6625 but no wifi. the nokia e71 has the features but is lacking something that i quite cant my fingers on and i do not like symbian. The Htc snap seems to be the only alternative out there between the new qwerty phones.

I have the HTC S620 and I can tell you now I will continue to use HTC until they lose the plot like Nokia did a few years ago. This format to me is the best pity the only thing missing is the funky sliderbar which I loved but the trackball should be excellent.

My current phone is E71 and it is a complete phone for me.

Does HTC snap has a built-in modem?

AussiePride2009, 17 Apr 2009i wonder why they did not try to put the android system on ... moreBecause this is a business-centric phone, and Android does not support Enterprise/Professional solutions (at least not yet).

Dubz, 16 Apr 2009So has HTC just gone and made their own versions of everyth... moreWell it isn't a copy. This is just the "upgrade" to the nearly ancient HTC Cavalier. I don't actually see any resemblance to the BB 9000 and 8900 though. Materials etc are different, and I think the size of the qwerty keys plus staggered layout is brilliant. If looks are the choice for qwerty smartphone buyers, I suspect that the BB's and this will cater to very different tastes.

As I'm in the fashion, entertainment and advertising industries, unfortunately it has to be both abt function and form for me. I don't really like the 9000's looks and size but this (the subdued minimalist look), the 8900 (the edgy aggressive look) and e71 (the svelte almost high fashion look) were my top choices. Fortunately (since my phone died on me), my choice was made easier as the Snap isn't available yet. I opted for the E71 as its PIM and mobile office functionality surpassed that of the 8900.

As much as RIM's email solutions are probably the best, a majority of companies are starting to use Microsoft Exchange servers, which means RIM's BES is just an additional cost. In the end it boils down to what each company wants.

A brilliant phone for emails, but just average in other areas, or a not-quite-but-almost-there phone for email, but brilliant with all out PIM and mobile office, or one that sits in-between the two (you know my choice :p)

Btw, if you haven't tried a WM Standard phone, you really need to. They are very snappy (pun intended) as compared to their WM Pro siblings. Since the hardware for the Snap is the same as CNET's fastest business-phone (the HTC Touch 3G), I suspect that the OS will be pretty darn quick.

So has HTC just gone and made their own versions of everything on the market? This thing looks just the the BlackBerry 9000 Bold, which isn't a very impressive device its got 3G which is a slight improvement over the 8900 Curve, but this phones real only improvement over a Blackberry is its 3G abilities. I wouldn't give up my 8900 for it, but I don't see this thing being some big huge upset for RIM. That and I've used the WinMo OS tons of times on Palms and a few other HTC's and I hated it. The BlackBerry's may lack some abilities just because of the OS but for what most people need it works just fine, there's a reason why RIM is a major player in the Smart Phone arena. I will admit this though, even though I'm not sold one this, HTC devices are superior to most things out there, but they're weaknesses are annoying...battery life

Ghazall_Ampang, 10 Apr 2009it says HTC Snap. but the camera only 2mp. If you can't say anything intelligent please do not bother posting a comment and wasting space and people's time reading it. I am quite sure the handset name is derived by more than the camera pixels. Possibly the OEM is trying to create a catchy name based on handset functionality for branding and marketing purposes.

Most of us who look at these phones, don't just call with them. I check emails, ammend documents, etc in addition to using the phone features with my smartphone.

greg, 08 Apr 2009To make windows run fast it always needs more than 128mb ra... moreNothing wrong with BES, although that being said, it is very interesting that RIM handsets now are able to connect to Microsoft Exchange Servers (hell even the iphone is able to accept push emails from Microsoft Exchange Servers now), which shows that MS is fast posing a real threat to BES.

BES is a really good system, but the actual handsets are showing their age. Their underlying menus are worse than WM. It would be interesting to see what RIM will come out with next, esp since that other than email management, WM has a much better business suite.

And if you think WM is slow, have a play with the Touch 3G. It is possibly the fastest smartphone around. It's lag is similar to that of a basic phone. This has similar specs but would use even less resources as its non-touchscreen. I would say that RIM has to be very afraid of this phone.

this phone has to many buttons.
Why would you need so many buttons if you need a phone to call with? I wanted to call my grandmother, so why need 40 buttons on a phone.
If you leave 30 buttons, and make the phone 50 dollar cheaper than people would be quite happier. Cos the morge buttons, the faster the phone also will be defect.
Or leave some buttons, and use the money for a bigger screen.

All and all, we can conclude that this many buttons will only make this phone worth less. so to conclude less is more!
