Slayer, I tried with Windows Media player which is part of WM6, the playback is slow, so video jumps every 2 seconds or so (every main frame?)... I should give it a try with another player indeed, will post results.
P.S. - what I was trying were .mp4 video files dowloaded from ted.com. Maybe they are too high resulution for this device? No idea...
Youtube playback is ok, but it's in low resolution, looks ugly (pixilated).

To "unknown" who wants the number in brackets (123) to be off. Just go to regional settings and choose "English (United Kingdom)" and the brackets will go off. Right now you pc has chosen English (United States).

A very good and nice device but for another time htc didn't involve a flash (led or xenon) for the camera! Why dear htc?

Some time ago I was reading this thread to get an idea about the device. Now I own it and it's my turn to give the opinion:
1. Weight and size.
I have both HTC TyTN II and HTC Touch Cruise and have to say for sure the latter is way lighter, sits perfectly in palm and power button is exactly in right place (especially when you hold the device in left hand using stylus in right one)
2. Glossy issue
DAMN designers, who ever could come up with this stupid idea to make the top plate reflecting. So we have two places of reflection: the screen itself gives sharp reflection comparing to TyTN one, maybe Cruise has 2 times stronger reflection than
TyTN II has it; besides the screen, the border of the case is even more reflective due to it's stupid cheap nickel-like covering, damn it. Just make black box, is it that difficult? So, overall, reading from TyTN is way better and less distractive than from Cruise. But still, Cruise has bright screen and I still can read it under direct sun light, just find an angle to do not have much reflection. Eventually you get used to it and it's not THAT horrible, but can be better...
3. Performance.
In general rendering of screens while switching from app to app does not work very fast. Say, if you have an incoming call, it takes some time to get that screen displayed, so it does not react as fast as any regular phone out there, but is still acceptable.
The main issue is mp4 playback - it sucks big time.
FM radio is ok, maybe less sensitive and a dedicated device but still gets main powerful stations in the city.
4. Photo camera is slow
You press button, it adjusts, it makes sound then it takes the picture. So it may take 2-3 seconds before you'll get the actual shot and the scene may change already.
Still, not that bad considering "all included" nature of the device. Quality of pictures are very good usually at daylight.
5. GPS
Seems to be working but did not tried it yet with, say, TomTom. BTW, HTC supplies MapKing map application with it, not TomTom ;)
6. Connectivity
I really enjoy wifi connection both at home with wireless router and at work via public hotspot.
7. HTC UI
HTC cube does not help much so I almost do not use it.
8. Touch screen sensetivity as not as bad as I thought watching demos on youtube, but could be better. You have to get used to it...
Overall impression - not bad for WM device, even though I'd like to have it working faster sometimes. mp4 playback issue is really ugly one. I mainly use it for reading in metro.
And it IS expensive considering faulty video playback and lack of god navigation software preinstalled.

I bought my HTC Touch Cruise 2 months ago. It's awesome! I don't regret buying this phone even if its pricey. it's really a great phone for surfing the net thru wi-fi, listening to music with audio manager. the finger scrolling is so smooth. I also installed alot of 3rd party application. the camera is good it has an auto-focus but no zoom when you put it in 3megapxel mode. the video camera s not that quite-good. but it's ok. I'm really satisfied and happy with touch cruise! some of the issues people talking about touch cruise is not true..*Some*

I am in Hong Kong and I bought the phone in HK. When I enter phone number in the dialpad, it's showing the US phone number format (123)456-7890 instead of HK format of 1234-5678. I can still make calls but it's very annoying and difficult to read the number when it's show (123)456-78. How can I change it?
I have tried the Registry Editor, but it's already showing default 8 digit, and still doesn't work. I tried emailing HTC customer service but no reply yet after 24 hours.

For choosing a phone we all have different choices, based on our use.
If we see Tytn II and Cruise, Cruise has advantages of less weight, handy touch Flo cube and its ease of use with web and pics. Internally both are same and have almost same power.Cruise is just a bit advanced than TyTn II and has few addons.

As per the reviews i read, it is not a problem reading this phone's screen under bright daylight.
Currently i am under confusion wether to buy the HTC Touch Cruise, or the HTC Tytn II.

Hi,
You can of course disble the Tourch Flow cube by editing the registry. You can do that with various tools availble free to download now.
Also, the processor is not too bad - its really doing the job, but HTC also can enhance performance by giving good video drives for them.
The phone is really a useful one with all features combined in any Win mobiles released - till date.
