Anthony's big fan, 06 Feb 2009Hey anthony,im a great fan of urs....im confused to buy it,... moreThe Google maps that it comes with works well with the gps. it is dead on in satellite view. But the map view has an offset. i don’t know how tom tom works because i have not tried it. wav, mp3 MPEG4 all play on it by defalt. But you can get more formats by installing “core player” some older windows mobile games will not work because they need the 5way pad for there controls and this phone does not have that as hardware (only below the software keyboard.) Other old games were made for the 240x320 screen and this is the new 480x800 screen. You can down grad the screen with software but I would not do that. I have ripped movies form DVDs to it and they played well with out sticking, unlike like other phones i have had.

Jeff, 06 Feb 2009Thanks Anthony for agreeing with me, I knew you would event... morelol.... you telling me you would not buy a phone only because it did not come with the auto rotate in every program even if you could get the feature after for free with a small download??? that is like saying you would not buy a car you like because it did not come with a cup holder even after you were told where you can get a cup holder for free. what can i say. to each its own. if you like your phone say with it.

I think if HTC Touch HD was to fix the lack of landscape virtual keyboard in WinMo Excel/Word (out of the box) they would have an outright winner. Until that time I will have to stick with the Omnia at half the price which does work straight out of the box.
Yo be honest I wish it wearn't so...

I DO use 3rd party application software all the time on my pc.
Don't you think it would be good if HTC could fix their operating system user interface software with an official patch on their website?

I took a photo of a document but cant figure out how ... moreMake a very small clock wise circle around what you want to full the screen and if you want to go bigger, just make the circle again in the new area it will pan & zoom at the same time. After that, if you just want to pan alone just tap and hold on the screen, a small box will come up like a key plan. From there you can pan any where you want.to zoom back out Double tap or make an anti clockwise circle

You tell me? Because last time I checked this phone is still running a form of Microsoft windows. If you want a phone that the makers don’t want you to mod it then you should get an iphone. anyway im just trying to help you with the problem you had i cant make you do it.

Help? I took a photo of a document but cant figure out how to zoom into it enough to be able to read it on the Touch HD. It does a zoom then stops. How do i get it zoom in close?

See this comment from a user on the website you referred to. I'm amazed that you think its normal to have to fiddle with 3rd party software to make the HTC Touch HD work in landscape mode. Isn't this something HTC should patch?
Why does auto-rotate work out of the box for the WinMo Samsung OMNIA but it doesn't for the HTC Touch HD. What gives.

I've had this unit for a week now.
Very happy. operating system is sometimes slow however and not as nice to use as the iphone.
I've managed to install tomtom 7.45 with maps of UK and Europe. All works well. OCR sw that comes with the business card reader is brilliant. I'm looking for sw to play avi files at the moment.
Problem area is the automatic voice command system that seems to set itself off unintentionally.

tree, 06 Feb 2009how many days goes the battery in normal use?????How I use it, I get about 2½ days but it may be different for you. All I know is, that it last allot longer than the Qtek s200 I had before. That phone did not even make it through the work day the way I like to use me phone.

Jeff, 06 Feb 2009HTC Touch HD - I have heard that you can get third party so... moreLet me stop you in your tracks. Word and excel does have a landscape keyboard. HD is using the same windows mobile 6.1 like all the other phones that have 6.1
You just need a 3rd party app to make word and the rest of programs auto rotate to landscape, and to do that just install GSen. It was made for the HTC Touch Diamond but it works great in the HD. you can even put the Gsen toggle in your start menu to have quick access to turn it on or off. It will make all programs in the HD auto-rotate. You can get gsen for free at http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-gsen.html
