Saffi, 07 Sep 2009I've had my HTC since June and have gone back using my SPV ... moreyes you can speed dial. you just have to set it up.
when you have the phone dialer up, just click on menu.
then click on speed dial. to setup a new speed dial # click menu there and hit new. the rest explains its self.
note. you can have 99 speed dial #'s
when they are set....
0-9 you just hold the number.
10-99 press the first # then hold the second #
.eg speed dial 27
press 2 then hold the 7 and it will start dialing if you have a person set to 27.

I've had my HTC since June and have gone back using my SPV E650. I am finding it very difficult to get used to the HTC. May be it takes a while to get used to it, but at the moment I much prefer the SPV phone. So much more user friendly, I think.
It would have been nice to have a complete manual with the phone, not just on a disk.
Would anybody know how to do speed dial with this phone, if that is possible at all? On my SPV I just have to press and hold a number that I have allocated to a certain person.
Also I would like to know if I can assign my own downloaded tunes to "receiving an SMS" and "alarm setting", not one of the pre-installed ones.
I know it is possible for incoming calls, but I haven't been able to work it out for any of the other features.
Thanks in advance for your help

hij, 07 Sep 2009Hi friends anthony and dexter,
Please help me decide be... moreInteresting question.
Touch Pro II and Omnia are running windows mobile.
If you like keyboard then go for Touch Pro II but otherwise Omnia II is better..
If you're into multimedia, n900 is a new experience, you'll actually love it's interface. so i's upto you in the end..
I'll update you with more.. :)

Nick, 07 Sep 2009Let's come back to underlying problem of winmob. It does no... moreOk i'm guessing you went and read my comment in Touch Diamond 2, because i'm Captain Falcon there..
I'm in the middle-east you can't imagine the heat in my country, Last year i used to work as a quantity surveyor and take photos and notes under sunlight and heat with my htc Touch running in 320x240 res 65k color..
I never made it a big deal at all, actually i never thought of it too..
iPhone's interface looks better than windows mobile and i agreed to that alot.. but what's the use???????? I made my HD look like the iphone icon apps swipeable interface for 3 days and got bored with it cause i can't go to my apps and my task as quick as the start menu and touchflo from HTC..
I mean you have to swap like 5 - 10 pages to go for a certain app.. Windows 6 or 6.5 or touchflo have them categorized as you want.. Multimedia/tool/programs/... so.. You rename the folders and do anything you want..
But you're just looking for a tiny little point and making it a big issue..
Can you please send me the news about HD 2 running android? cause i'm using it's interface on my HD (ToucFlo3D Manila 2.6 "Leo") and my HD is running windows 6.5.. So it's really possible that what you're saying is a rumor..
iphones res is 320 x 480, So 3rd iphone with low res..
Take a look at videos and photos in HD/windows 800x480 at that resolution..
There are video and photo softwares that run at 16.7m color on my HD.. So again Windows win for giving the opportunity to make us run software freely with that color and resulotion.
Touch HD 800x480 and 16.7m in pic&vid app.. Does the iPhone have that?.. loooolll!! They need hardware for that! :PPPPPPPPPP
Don't bother, you're just wasting your breathe.. Give up your fashion. thinking. or get his phone it's better than anyphone http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_s9110-2885.php..

Let's come back to underlying problem of winmob. It does not support 16m color. Forget about using winmob device in broad day light. Even HTC is tired of winmob…they are coming out with Touch HD2 with Android. Winmob is so outdated that it can not take any benefit from monster processor like tegra or snapdragon ….if you do not believe me ….Look at Toshiba G01..wat a shame….one of the sluggiest phone with 1ghz snapdragon processor. They are just like our grandpa & grandma….they just love to be stubborn no matter wat. One more reality, in US nobody even knows that htc touch exist. Look at their stupid winmob apps. …I saw somewhere that winmob can become like iphone. …interesting…..is there any iphone users they want their sexy iphone to look like old winmob?? LOL .
But there are bunch of die-hard winmob fans that they just simply could not believe that this is 21st century & iphone rules the mobile market. That’s the reason every damn phone whether its nokia or htc….all they wanna be is ..iphone killer. If u wanna comment on my post…pls read all my previous posts and come to the point. LOL

Bharpreet_India, 07 Sep 2009Hi Dexter,
heard that HTC is coming out with Touch HD 2 ... more10000s of Touch HDs are running win 6.5 now. Use cooked roms and don't bother with the official ones..
Microsoft and hTC are happy with cooked roms from xda-developers anyway, cause they're selling more of their products thanks to them..
Touch HD 2 won't come out with Android, the touch HD 2 is called "Firestone" which is now known as "Leo". It's coming out with windows 6.5 in oct or Nov..
Touch HD now is running Leo interface but just a test version.. I'm guessing Leo-interface is for a huge processor to handle like in the touch hd 2, but it's under development on the HD and i'm currently using it and very happy with it.. :D
You can buy the HD now and sell it earlier next year to get the HD 2, but if you're willing to wait till oct or nov then get the HD 2 and it will last a year and you can sell it by late 2010 or early 2011.. :)
For me, now that the Manila 2.6 with Windows 6.5 is out, i think that the show has just begun with my HD.. ;)

Anonymous, 06 Sep 2009Hi Dexter and Anthony,
I'm planning to buy mobile soon b... moreit comes down to...
1.if you need a physical keyboard or not.
2. If you want a 3.5mm audio jack because the pro2 does not have one.
3. the pro has better speakers but the HD is slimmer and neater looking.
4.If you don't mind using cooked roms the software will be about the same for the both of them. the rest of difference is to minor to make a major difference.

Syrus, 06 Sep 2009I recently bought touch diamond2 and I'm new to windows mob... moreYou have to flash cooked roms, it makes your Phone perform better.
Here you go, make sure you make yourself a large cup of coffee and read through everything:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=486
&
http://htcpedia.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=15
Go through the Hard-SPL process to unlock your phone.
Then choose any Rom.
Dutty and Energy are recommended..
Official Roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501387
I don't think anyone would ever want to go back to official roms.
