I have been using this phone for almost a week now, it is a good phone except some silly mistake that HTC made. If I store local contact with the country code and if this contact calls me I can not see the name. To see the name of this local contact I should store the number without the country code. For international calls it is ok because the number is sent to the phone with the country code.
I gave the phone for the technical support and I hope that they apply a patch or update the firmware to solve this problem otherwise the phone is useless to me.

If I want to travel outside the country, I have to update all the contacts to include the country code.
I can not beleive that this issue comes from a high end phone like this one.

I will update you later.

After deep meditation I find myself saying: "hang on a minute!" Would it not have been better for HTC to have made a Touch HD Pro ie a mobile with a 3.8 inch widescreen (800*480 pixels) and a hardware QWERTY. That way the entire width of web pages could be viewed without scrolling. Furthermore one would be able to speed type. The problem with the keypadless HTC HD Touch is that you can't speed type. I have never understood the allure of strictly keypadless touchscreens. Input is always slower without the hardware keypad.
The reason why the Nokia E90 has the best internet experience is the superb widescreen coupled with the five row hardware QWERTY.

Does this phone have spell check for SMS, e-mail and internet posts? Can one copy and paste specified parts of web pages to other folders? Can the entire width of this page of GSM arena fit on the Touch Pro's screen when in landscape orientation ( ie without scrolling )?

I have been using Sony Ericson and Blackberry for a long time and I have been happy with them so far. My blackberry broke a while ago, so I thought I should get Sony’s Xperia. Well as you know, this phone is taking such a long time to come out. So I bought HTC touch pro as a temporary replacement, until Sony releases their phone or the Bold comes to my country. After reading several reviews and post I decided to take a chance a buy the Touch Pro. First look, the phone looks nice and well designed. However, I am not that impressed with this phone and WILL sell the phone when the any of the other phones come out.

                Cons; Touch Screen
The phone is little slow and the Touch Flo function that HTC created is not good. I had the iphone for a while, even though I did not like it, the touch screen functionality is 1000 times better than the HTC. When you try to scroll through your contacts, it keeps going none stop without stopping. Selecting the contact is another challenge .
                Contact:
This is a programming functionality but for some reason you cannot organize the contact list in First name basis; only last name
                Syncing
Sometime the computer will not recognize the phone. Also you cannot edit your phone contacts through the computer
                Speed
Not impressed by the Touch Pro speed, it reminds me of the old 8525 5f Tytn speed.
                Screen
Little small, but you can get use to it. Another issue is sometime the screen turn black, the only way to get the screen back is to reboot the phone
                TXT/email
Is the worst application I have ever used? I believe that the old 8525 is 100 times better than windows 6.1. I like the conversation option it has though.
                Browser
In comparison to Blackberry and iphone, this phone’s browser is a joke. It does not fit the page correctly, thus you actually have to zoom in to read each part of the page.
                Battery
                Is a complete joke.

                Pros
Actual Key board functionality is good, however the onscreen keyboard sometimes get on your way
Size is good, but I think they rushed in production with this model, which they just copied the Diamond applications into this; the reason of conflict in some of the functionality of the phone

Overall, I am not impressed of this phone. If you are thinking of buying one, please test it first. If you are debating between Xperia and this one, get the Xperia; hoping they will not face the same issues HTC Touch Pro has with Windows Mobile 6.1

Most likely the first person in New York City to have this phone. Had this on September 2nd. Excellent phone. Windows Mobile 6.1 with touch is nice.

Hi all, I've just one week using HTC Touch Pro. Very good, powerful and stylist. But, why the is very fast drain out. Last night from 10-12pm i recharge the battery for 3 hrs but before lunch time today is is already flat (red bar). I was not using it continuously. But why it draining very fast? According to its spec., it has up to 406hrs standby. If my unit shows around 200hrs, its ok. can anybody explain?

I saw the same posting from you in many other phone model sites with the same content. I must say you deserve a big THANK YOU from us readers here in GSMarena. Takes a lot of effort and time to do what you did for other's benefits.

I'm sorry you lost your money to this internet scam on phone sales. However, I believe some websites are genuine (I won't name names here to be fair), just be careful if you are looking at buying some of your favorite phones online.

stan, 12 Sep 2008I want to know HTC phone made in china or what ? thanks Just an additional info, yes, HTC's from Taiwan. Besides that their manufacturing history involved being the OEM manufacturer for the O2 XDA 1, II, IIi, IIs models (after that O2 switched to another manufacturer), Dopod models and now their own HTC brand. So they have good history and I believe (I can't say totally confirmed) that their reliability factor should be good for their machines. Of course due to such quantity produced from them in the market all these years, I'm sure there were some with some kind of problems, it's hard to get zero defects in manufacturing. At least they have the experience in manufacturing PDA phones for many years since the first O2 XDA 1 in 2001. (HTC guys should pay me for this... but it's the fact. (LOL)

                                        Hope this helps
