The direct draw driver problem is definately frustrating but lets not forget this PPC is a brilliant piece of kit.

The petition for 3D drivers isn't going to go anywhere... The root of the problem lies with QualComm - upon release of the MSM7200 there was never a Direct 3D driver/SDK created so no other company (like HTC) could even implement such drivers necessary to get the Q3Dimension engine to run.

Even so, that's not the only problem. HTC isn't exactly well known for their software support. Take a look at the TyTN 1 - GPS was present in the modem chipset, but it was never enabled (later on we found out there wasn't even an internal antenna present). Also, look at the P3600, HTC never released full software support of the ATi graphics chipset..

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying HTC isn't capable of releasing software support for the 3D accelerator - but considering their recent past with such support, I really, REALLY doubt it's EVER going to happen. And to further illustrate my point, how about you take a look at the HTC website's product page for the TyTN II. There IS NO REFERENCE TO IT'S 3D CAPABILITIES WHATSOEVER. They don't even advertise it, so why would they try to implement it? Now, keep in mind that 3D acceleration isn't the only thing missing that the MSM7200 is capable of... It also supports direct TV output, 30FPS recording @ VGA resolution, VGA playback @ 30 FPS, and HSUPA - none of which are implemented in the TyTN II.

Sorry guys, but all of your TyTN II's are running with the e-brake on, and no online petition is going to change that.
