                  Hi.
Apparently, any version of the TyTN II that comes from Asia does not come with TomTom software.
Does anyone know where I can download the version it is supposed to come with?

This ppc works great.I\'m not sure what all the fuss is about!perhaps jealous rival fanboys?I can make a small video showing how slick this baby is.Overall the Tytn II is the best phone on the market.

Yes it's fast at loading programs.Tap and that's it the application has opened. On the start menu Hit programs and instantly you are there with the page loaded. However I did have problems playing a 700 meg dvd rip,the vid jumped and didn't play very
well.I installed smartmovie with pc converter and the movie played with out fault.Apart from the rubbish battery that takes hours to charge this unit is brilliant.

I've got a fully loaded TyTn II-windows mobile torrent, skype, windows live, pocket mechanic, resco suite, opera, netfront, slingplayer, core player etc etc and their is very little if any lag on opening or using applications. This ppc knocks spots of my old universal.

Sluggish through the applications you say? What complete nonsense. This ppc is heaps faster than the old tytn, unlike you I happen to own both. This is definitely one of the fastest ppc on the market.Their is no lag when navigating through menus or using applications.Maybe you should use an n95 and see what sluggish is all about!fully loaded gallery takes forever as does processing a photo.

That's true, to a certain extent. The 3D engine isn't only applied towards gaming, video decoding/encoding are affected as well - but not very much. Even so, the 'Q3D' isn't the only empty promise, what about being able to record at VGA resolutions? The CPU is capable of handling that, but the TyTN II doesn't pull through.. And seeing that the performance is somewhat sluggish with general application use, I am beginning to wonder if HTC completely botched up the hardware, or if the Qualcomm CPU just isn't all it's hyped up to be..? Indeed it is superior to that of the OMAP2 CPU in the E90/N95 in some respects (ie 3D accelleration OpenGL 2.0 capable, H.264 capable, hardware JAVA acceleration, stronger ARM9 co-processor, plus a higher clock speed) but it's not showing in this phone... What's the deal??

Considering that the applications processor alone is an ARM11 unit compared to the ARM9 of the old TyTN, it should be LOADS faster than it's predecessor! But apparently it's not. And even throwing in hardware JAVA acceleration, multiple DSP's, twice the RAM, plus a faster WM6 O/S, the TyTN II definitely has plenty of extra help, yet it still seems to fall a little short. Sure it's quicker than my old TyTN, but not that much..

I hope it's just a software glitch, because I had extremely high hopes for the Qualcomm MSM7200, but seeing the performance of the TyTN II, it seems that it's not living up to it's official hardware specs. It *should* be able to perform better than this!

In my opinion HTC didn't fully utilized qualcomm CPU in TytnII. If you look on the specs of that CPU its's much better that CPU in Nokia N95 or E90 !!! Supports 3D acceleration better than N95, video playback/record with 30 fps. HSDPS & HSUPA, TV-out. TytnII would be much better.

Qualcomm and HTC are currently working to enable the access of the 3D accelerator to applications.

Best software keyboard? That's easy: Tengo and TengoThumb. I type quicker on them than on full qwerty keypads because not only does the app "learn" your words (adds them to dictionary) after a few days, but the key layout is genius...certainly leagues better than iCrap.
