I found a coupon to bring the HTC U11 down in price, then looked around on the HTC website to see if it came with their Uh-Oh coverage for the first year of ownership. Didn't find it so I live chatted with HTC and found out that this phone currently does NOT come with Uh-Oh coverage. Only some models of HTC do. That is a deal breaker for me.

4 years back I went to a shop to get 'A' latest and greatest phone.
I was handed the plastic-polymer (w/e you wanna call it) S4 and Metal uni-body HTC M7.

Guess what I bought? HTC. (Samsung never won me after that)

To this day it is my daily companion. Still prevails more than 12 hours of above average usage.

Sound quality was unrivaled at that time both headphones and boom sound.

The device crashed on me only 4 times for the entire four years I owned it.
My friends who bought the Samsung could not say the same.

I was patiently waiting for a good flagship from HTC. U11 seems like it.

Yes, the Samsung looks more futuristic, I agree. I do like the edge.

The fact most people does not realize is that it does not matter how great the specs of your phone is, what matters is that if it does what you want efficiently and elegantly.
My personal preference is in listening to music when I travel (in the best quality possible). HTC delivers more than I expect. I love the simple OS design with minimal deviation from stock android.

I'm not buying in to the megapixel game. Or specs.

I own the 2013 flagship phone. Does it lag, yes some times when I am using G-Maps and that's it. It has no problem in keeping up with my daily requirements.

+ how many times did I drop my phone in the toilet or the pool in the past four years... NONE.
Did I drop it on the floor? yes, many times on gravel, tarmac, tile, etc. Still in one piece.

Again, my Samsung owning friends could not say the same.

I am listening to reviews of my friends who has S8's already. What I hear is that sound quality is not quite good out of the box. Not sure if it is the player or the DAC. (We are quite particular about what we hear through our head phones. we use 7605s, m40xs and m50xs. So our expectations are quite high).

So, my obvious pick will be the U11 itself over the S8.

HTC should now make changes to the design and UI of their phones.

Some of you guys here complaining about U11 probably don't even own one(or will ever own one in some cases :P). Point is if your a Samsung fan then you're on the wrong page, looking at the wrong phone. Thank you for taking the time out to watch a beautiful device though. Guess y'all got tired of look at Samsung's. :B ;)

PurplePotato, 04 Jun 2017Hahahahahahah htc better than Samsung? Now that's funny aha... moreNot because Samsung is popular, that makes it better. That only makes it well marketed.

Lots of ppl said Edge sense is a gimmick. I guess it is. At least it draws those professional haters' attention, lol. I find this feature convenient for those ppl with only one functional hand. U may wanna take a selfie while u r holding your baby. U may wanna call someone while u r dragging ur luggage... not to mention physically challenged. Its a good thing that htc focus on one-hand-operation in an innovative way. and thats a phone and a pad distinguishes. Not to mention its only the first generation. I bet HTC will keep improving it as long as they dont give up handset market .... For those who wants larger screen. Get a pad !! For those who simply wants gorgeous front look, get S8 !! But for those who need a smart phone, get it I guess
