HTC mobile division was sold to Google. They are who that design the Pixel phones. A small team was left with HTC who might be designing these phones.

I used to love HTC phones and Im sad to see them lagging behind .they used to innovate and play with giants like Samsung and Apple but these are not specs of a "pro" phone

Anonymous, 18 May 2023"HTC got it wrong again, upgrade not downgrade!
Gen 7... moreThe 7 Gen 1 is less efficient than the 778G, and you get a MINOR SMALL increase in performance, the 778G mostly scores 500-520K, the 7Gen1 scores 530-540K while having worse endurance and thermal throttling. Lol.
Its so bad that it forced Qualcomm to release the 7+Gen2 because they know that giving 400USD+ phones this pile of crap will make them lose even more market share against Mediatek's Dimensity 8100 and 8200.

To anyone who finds the device good. Use the comparison option and compare with an S22 or a Pixel 7 and dare to say that it is worth it! (Not to mention HTC support.....)

IAC, 18 May 2023This phone is not intended to be a flagship but a good phon... moreIts not a good phone for its price tag, what are you smoking. For 550USD, you are getting a horrible chipset that is less efficient than the 778G and an Antutu score of 550K when every other 500-550USD phone can score 700K+ Antutu, subpar battery, outdated camera system with a useless 5mp and 2mp sensors, horrible software support with 1 year or even less of updates. At the price of 550USD, you can get a Pixel 7/7a, a Oneplus 10T or an S22/FE.

Lots of people here thinking its a great phone, they fail to realize this is a 500-550 USD phone, At that price you can get a Oneplus 10T, Pixel 7/7a, Moto 30, Samsung S22 and, Oneplus 11R, and many more.
And lets not forget, HTC has horrible software support, common norm for them is just a measily 1 year of software update and 1-2 years of security updates with some users reporting not even receiving any updates after a few months lol.
Also this thing uses the horrible Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, so bad that almost no manufacturer uses it, the 7 Gen 1 is far less efficient than even the 778G, which is why some 7G1 phones like the Mi 13 Lite despite having a larger battery has worse endurance and battery life than the older 778G-equipped Mi 12 Lite.
Please think wisely before throwing money on this E-waste phone.

Dantonku, 18 May 2023I wonder how many updates it will get. If it's 3years ... moreLess than 1year. The HTC U20 had reports from users not even getting security updates past their 2nd month lol. You are lucky to get 1 to 2 years of late support.

Nice to see midrangers now get 256 GB, when it was only 64 GB not so long ago...and with memory card and 3.5mm audio jack, seems perfect for me. Samsung with 128 GB in its 1000 dollars S23 is a shame. But the bezel is too thick, Oppo Reno 10 looks much better.

Glad to see htc coming back. The first android smartphone ever released was an htc, my first android was an htc, sense interface was way better than TouchWiz. But...
Htc almost vanish from face of the earth. How good it will be? How about support, updates, service?
The biggest problem is the snap 7gen1, made by Samsung with same problems as snap 8gen1, to much power consumption, to much eat, and with 4600mah it won't last long.
The spec's are very good for the price, you don't see at that range ip67 and wireless charging, the sensors are good enough in this segment. I hope htc rise up again. 👍👍👍

The Samsung Fab, the same clock speed as 1380, and Similarities in Benchmarking? It seems like a rebranded, better version of the Exynos 1380.

Mr. H, 18 May 2023Surprised? Not really!
HTC got it wrong again, upgrade n... more"HTC got it wrong again, upgrade not downgrade!
Gen 7 chip? 644 GPU? Wifi6 and not 6e? 339 ppi?"
~that chip just got released this year & is a successor to the older SD778 that is more powerful & efficient in both cpu & gpu. Wifi6 is just getting adapted much more 6e heck I doubt your ISP even give more than 1Gbps internet. It's 393 ppi not 339 even then I bet your blind to know the difference anyway.
"Everything in it is couple of years old, pulling Apple iphone here, I bet they wish they could pull their pricing module too!"
~ Please prove to us if it is couple years old phone & rather than compare it to apple why not other Android midrange phones that uses gimped socs that cannot record or play upto 4k, have no sdcard slot & 3.5mm jack on the same price or pretty much little difference.
"Might as well use micro usb for charging, cause that's era this phone belongs to!"
~ what a stupid troll hater you are, guess you bought a garbage phone thats why you insecure & come here to bash on HTC.
