    Hi

    The reason why we here and some bitching bcoz HTC is doing very good phones. With with few models before best 3.5 holes on market. Dac and amp. Period
    I know I love cable headphones and have good models like Shure SE535 ltd, UE, Akg, VModa etc.
    Also not happy bcoz no over 100 years old technology. 3.5mm
    But let me listen how it sounds with adapter.

Because if you did, you would never buy a upgraded phone or even upgrade software out of fear of change. As for the action of plugin in to listen..... It's about 98% the same action with the USB-C headphones. And 100% the same action as charging the phone. So if that's the reason not to like it. Then I truly believe that the small fraction of people who bitching about it, only doing so because they feel the need to bitch about something.

        I wonder if the generation before me know they suppose to not like change and go back to using a rotary dial phone

If something is just a little bit different than the typical features found in the objects and situations, we will immediately discard it and return to our "comfort zone". So if we are given a phone that doesn't have a headphone jack, people will most likely not use the phone and switch to something else. This is not my opinion, this is literally what my prof told our class.

            If you forget really fast, then your brain clearly needs checkup because that's not normal. LOL what's even more interesting is that today in my psychology class we were taught many ways for a human to transfer their short-term memory into their long-term memory, and one of those ways is by classical conditioning. Classical conditioning is when someone repeatedly does an action that is associated with a certain outcome, for instance, someone plugging their headphone is order to listen to music. If this action keeps getting associated with the outcome, it will eventually get embedded into your long term memory; oh, and not to mention that long term memories created by classical conditioning will always get performed automatically/unconsciously; so in a sense it is almost like an instinct for us to plug in a headphone.

            The change of the display ratios are different to the removal of the headphone jack, because it is NOT a conditioned action. And plus since we are focusing on the contents within the screen rather than the screen itself, it is very easy to adjust to any screen ratio.

            This has nothing to do with "liking" the audio jack; it is simply an action that we do in order to summon an outcome (listening to music). All our memories are literally associated with this action that it has become rooted into our motor memory. Trying to NOT plug your headphones into something every time you listen to music would be VERY HARD to forget.

              There's also the matter of company involvement, headphone companies need to be more readily on board for a standard change, as of right now, not enough are...especially in the audiophile space.

DC power may not interfere via radiation like that of AC, but can still interfere via conduction...so any small level of conduction happens (which is a wildcard with how unregulated USB-C is at the moment). zeros and ones can still be lost, or changed into a bunch of ones. Thereby making that DAC convert to some screwy audio waves. MAYBE if USB-C becomes more standardized, and regulated it could do something here...but it still undoes a decent capability of being able to charge and listen without a dongle, at least to more advanced headsets.

                As agreed upon, Bluetooth just isn't at a point of replacement in quality either.

                There's also a worthy mention of advancements, maybe not as much in the cable of 3.5mm jacks, but DACs within the ports.

                Like I have said, if they get rid of the jack with something innovative, then id be all for it. So far, only Motorola has, they ditched it for modularity and keeping a small design. Maybe if a company made a digital audio jack for phones, that would easily take up less space, a true successor to the ol' 3.5mm...id be on board.

                  B: can not disagree with anything you say there. But many people still prefer wireless, because cords get in the way with a phone. so they not using the "jack" and will not use "usb" too.

                  C: degrade signal???? A digital signal of zeros & ones??? That is not even travelling 6'??? You are talking about an analog problem, not digital. Even with noise, zeros & ones will be read as zeros and ones on a usb cable. Besides the DAC is getting power from the phone over the USB, along with the audio signal, so the point is not valid.
                  Note:- no power supply needed in the headphones for the DAC like when they try to do some kind of digital or amp up with a 3.5 jack.
                  Also If more phones get inductive charging (can not really call it wireless charging right now. LOL) you would not even need to carry an adaptor

                  as for your advancement comment... All the advancement had to do with the speakers and nothing to do with the jack. that is exactly why a digital input like USB is the way forward for phones if you want a standard. Because analog jacks are the weak link right now. Think about it, No one hooks up a home thearter audio system with analog jacks, when there is digital inputs like fibber and HDMI. only portable still holding on to that old thing.

                  directional sound win headphones will only get better with the DAC in the headphone. and they will even be able to put more speckers in inch side as it is getting power from the phone

                    Anth0ny, 24 Jan 2017hay. as humans we may not like change. but as humans we als... moreFull surround output is not meant to be listened to with headphones...they're Stereo...some can simulate surround sound, though...and headphones are the primary use of the 3.5mm jack, not sound systems. USB-C is not a good solution, just as with apple...the lightning port isn't either nor is bluetooth. Here is why:
                    A: as you have said this is digital output, meaning, at some point past these ports the signal will need to be converted to analog (normally at the speaker), with headphones this means DACs will have to be built in them, increasing price, weight, and changing that market overall. (Analog signaling cannot pass though USB cables)

                    B: Bluetooth is still running in the A2DP standards, which is fast, but prone to lag, and degradation of signal (which is awful for streaming music) from anything from pockets to microwaves. For a good example of how well that works...look at wireless mice in gaming PCs...they just do not hold up...and that signaling remains digital throughout.

                    C: Charging and listening to music simultaneously...an awful idea, adapters can assist yes, but when power runs in the same line as any quality based signaling, power will win and degrade any other signal.

                    If companies want to replace the 3.5mm jack, they need to replace it with something innovative and new, or else this idea may go the way of many failed changes to the digital market. Or at least something new that remains compatible with the huge market of current headphones utilizing the 3.5mm jack. As for the comment that current 3.5mm headphones have plateaued...you are sorely mistaken...as speaker tech gets better (drivers, magnets, etc) headphones continue to advance.

                      removing headphone jack is a deal breaker. It may affect the sales of the product. Yes, iPhone doesn't have headphone jack. People would buy iPhone anyway because Apple has strong brand value. But HTC doesn't have brand value like Apple. I think it will be difficult for HTC to compete with the company like Samsung, Huawei and Apple.

                        do you remember when a 4x3 ratio was the standard for TV and people kicked a fuss to change to 16x9. (no one fussing now) do to remember when TV used a analog signal tuner and the slandered changed to digital only. again people fussed and no one fussing now. (all that happened in the last 20 years of the long standing slandered for the analog 4x3 ratio picture tube box)
                        you my like the analog audio jack now. but with phones coming with 4 mics (maybe more in the future) for positional sound recording. do you think the analog jack can give you true 3 dimensional playback of that audio? you going to need digital output for that. and that's where the USB-C audio slandered come into play. USB-C headphones are only going to get better but analog headphones have plateaued like the analog record player (that is my point).

                          Depends on where you are. In China, the average chinese consumer won't give a crap cause they 're basically sheep to companies (the average chinese person is thankful enough to at least own a phone).

                          In Canada and the US however, consumers will give quite a lot of shit towards the removal of the jack. I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but the 3.5mm jack has been globally standardized. This means that this kind of technology is stable as hell and even if companies try to budge it with all their might, they are never going to overthrow the headphone jack.

                          That is a complete separate kind of comparison, and is nowhere near as universal and as standardized as a headphone jack.

                          There is so many things wrong with that statement. First of all, let me educate you with a bit of anthropology. Human beings don't like change, that is a mere fact. To give you an example, our ancient ancestors thought that rain could only form if they "danced", thus creating the rain dance. Obviously that is not true, and they are fooling themselves, but the "rain dance" has become so standardized into their daily lives that it has become a tradition that has been past down from generations to generations, and they CAN'T cannot do it, it's literally embedded into their minds. The same can be said with the 3.5mm headphone jack, it has been so standardized into every single person's life that it becomes common sense for one to "plug" their headset into their phone.

                          Look, I'm not trying to spread blasphemy towards wireless technology, I myself even admit that in lots of scenarios, having a bluetooth headset can come pretty handy.
                          My point is that the technology for wireless headphones is still not developed enough for us (the consumers) to change our conventional ways of listening to music. The only way I see for companies to persuade consumers to switch to wireless technology is if it makes us even more lazy. That is the sad and ironic truth towards the innovation of new technology; while it benefits us, it at the same time makes us more lazy.

                                  i think, minimum of 4000 mah battery is essential for this phone.

                                    I think HTC U phones, or even HTC 10 Evo (HTC Bolt in the US) would not existed if HTC 10 was a success

(which in this case would be of the NEW digital standard by means of a USB-C port) and would sound a lot better than what has come in the box in years gone by.
                                      there are those that would say that venal records are better than CD or mp3 and will buy there old school player for that. and then there are the rest that are very happy with streaming audio and mp3s.(the old school record player don't try to be both analog and digital
                                      and mp3 players don't try to play records) It will be the same with the OLD audio jack and the new digital port. you too will get over it in time or hold on to a old phone. nothing stays the dominant slandered for ever, unless you think digital cameras should also have a compartment for film as well. LOL
