Had one since mid July. Count me as a Mate2 fanboy!
100% happy with only having to spend 300 dollars for a great
device. Top tier specs aren't important to me. Buy the time you get a "flagship", within a month another device is released with higher specs. The mate2 runs FAST, has an awesome battery life. I could care less if it gets an update. IT WORKS!

Using this on wind Mobile in Cambridge, Canada. I've tried many phones on their network: Galaxy S3, Blackberry Z10, Q10, and Moto G. Each had disappointing reception and battery life as a result. Very pleased with this phone as I rarely see it drop below three bars, two bars and usable data connection in my concrete bunker of a workplace restroom where every other phone I tried had zero bars and functionality (even roaming was down to one bar).
Excellent signal aside, I'm really liking the size and build quality of this device. Years back when I was due an upgrade I laughed at the sales rep who suggested the Note 1. Yet since then I've come to realize that most phones are just too small for the ways I'd like to use them. Sure there are compromises you have to make with a device this size, but in my case they are outweighed by the benefits.

It is great phone, I like it a lot. Thank you Huawei to make this super phone for us. This phone is strong, even if it fall down it does not break, I am using this phone for 2 years now no even a single scratch, the battery also is very powerful it runs for two complete days, the phone is very fast, anti dusty, water prove, charging quickly.........

I purchased the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 in September, 2014, and returned it for a refund October 11, 2014. I loved the big size but it wasn't practical for me because it was too big for my pants pocket or shirt pocket. Also, for some reason I couldn't text a picture. All I got was "sending" on the screen but it never went anywhere. Another thing I didn't like was when I held it in my hand for, say, over five minutes my hand would hurt.

Have used it for a month (upgraded from HTC Sensation), now, in the US on T-Mobile and in New Zealand on Spark (formerly NZ Telecom). Resulting opinion? It is one excellent phablet. Sure, it might not have the fastest processor or the highest resolution, but neither was a drawback at all to performance and display. And the battery life? I love not having to charge every day. It is also thin and light for the sizes of the screen and the battery. I also love the fact that it was only $299, unlocked, and supported a range of LTE bands.

And listen to music from the headphones.

Best Mobile I Ever had...
I think it’s better to give one line about my previous mobiles, to understand how I rate Huawei Ascend Mate 2 (HAM2) compared to other mobiles.
Note: I bought it via GetHuawei site in the initial days. So I received the free flip case and reverse charging cable
Nokia 1100 - :-) Initial Phone :-)
Nokia 6610 - :-) More Features, Color Display | :-( no camera
Sony Ericson K850i - :-) Good camera (5 MP - biggest at that time), Xenon Flash, Sony's Music Experience | :-( software issues & changed in 6 months, lost my 50% money as I went for exchange
Nokia N82 - :-) Good camera (5 MP - biggest at that time), Xenon Flash, Carl Zeiss Optics | :-( no Touch
Samsung Galaxy Ace - :-) Touch Screen, Android, customization, 5MP Camera | :-( Less battery backup, camera is not good as my previous mobiles
Nokia N8 - :-) Best Camera - 12 MP with Xenon Flash, Carl Zeiss Optics, good battery life | :-( no OS update, less apps, no regional language support, 3.5 inch screen
Huawei Ascend Mate 2 - :-) Big touch screen, Bigger Battery, Android, customization | :-( awaiting Kitkat update, Camera is not performing as expected though it has Sony Exmor
Once Nokia has sold themselves to Microsoft, I was searching for a new mobile phone with good camera and battery life. I have listed down HTC Desire 816, Asus Zenfone 6 and Huawei Ascend Mate 2. As the HTC Desire 816 has higher price among these I had to select from Zenfone and Ascend Mate 2. Zenfone release was delayed and then I decided to buy HAM2. I am using HAM2 from August 20th and so far it’s really good experience.
Pros:
1. Battery Life is awesome. I am getting almost 3 days (72 hours) with full time connectivity (Vodafone 2G and Wifi at home). I am not a big mobile game player and I am getting more than 10 hours screen on time in HAM2 in these 3 days and still 20% battery was remaining!
2. Size is really good to browse and checking mails
3. A lot of apps for Photo editing and we can do editing in this big screen easily
4. And so on…
Cons:
1. I bought this mobile by seeing 13 MP Sony Exmor is used in this. Expected good quality pics as in my Nokia N8. Unfortunately the images are not up to the mark always. I have tried almost all the good camera apps from Google Play Store. Pics taken in good day light is superb but the pics in less light is not at all good :–( Huawei, please fix this issue urgently.
2. The OS is Android 4.3 (Jellybean) and no one knows about ETA for Android 4.4 (Kitkat) update. It’s ok and we can manage it. But Google Camera will work only on Android 4.4. Either they should fix the camera to produce better images or should upgrade to Kitkat so that we can use Google Camera app.
Note: Those who plan to buy it, Please read all single star reviews yourself and understand whether it is relevant. I really felt bad about seeing these 1 star reviews for such a good device.

really good! awesome battery life, almost 2 days without charging, 0 lag, great screen, needs better cam app, I recomend Camera FV-5, works great
