But every year since 2018, I've just given away the free phone I get. Bcos none of the of the newer phones I've tried since using the mate 20 pro (in 2018)actually feels like an upgrade.

I have been using mate 20 pro for around 3 years, but I have had a really bad experience with it.
After 1 year, the vibration sensor was dead.
After 1 year and a half, I had to change my charging slot, because it was also dead.
The main camera after a while, became very bad.
And a couple of months ago, the sim slots (both of them), were over, and my phone can't read anymore the sim.
In addition, the charger is not functional anymore.
I do really liked that phone, but I'm really afraid to go fix all these stuff, because I might pay an amount worth a new phone! And plus, no one will guarantee me the functionality and sustainability of the newly replaced pieces...
So I guess, I need now to buy a new phone, although the products (specially mid-range) found on the market today are not worth their price and not that functional...

I have the LYA-L29, and it is running on EMUI 12 which is based on Android 10. Could there have been some misunderstanding regarding EMUI vs Android versions?

I have Lya-L09 Model, and it's still running android 10 and my friend have Lya-L29 and he is got android 12 already. is there any solution to get the android 12 on my Lya-L09 model.

No 1 has discuss about the camera here. I think Huawei has to improve on some features in it's camera app. Front camera is too bright and white but with gcam app, it is solved and back camera has good details at close range, but cannot capture people faces clear under low light when recording in a program

I'm still using my mate 20 pro for the last 5 years, it still going strong. the battery lasts me the entire day the only thing I changed was the charger cable.

Hi guys, i don't know how many of you wil read this, i have been using the Huawei mate 20 pro from mid last year and not one1 phone uder R10000 south africa can compare to this huawei mate 20 pro. I have not had one issue with the huawei mate 20 pro. I would recommend you guys look at old flagship phones, do research watch youtube lol

I've had the Mate 20 Pro for four years and have just extended its like with a new battery. The phone is still strong enough and the OLED display still looks great. The only downside is the OS which started included Adverts when you try drag down to search for apps on your phone. This slows down the search significantly as it seems to do this via the internet and is totally unwanted if all you want to do is find a quick way to go to an app.

I must say a dont play games at all on my phone. Browsing, youtube, messaging and a LOT of calls for work.
I am waiting for a Galaxy A52s 5g now. I had to take something from my firm, so I took this midranger. I dont have a replacement phone, that is why I took the A52s in case my Mate dies. But I do intend to use my Mate, I think even though the Mate is 4 years older model, it is still better phone.

Anonymous, 07 Dec 2022Exactly same as my experience. But I don't replace bat... moreKirin SoC are good when they're new but to be honest, in the long run, Kirin is trash. I used to own a few Huawei phones and they didn't last as compared to my first Xiaomi phone which is now 6 yrs.
Kirin chips experience a lot of problems as they age, impossible to read sim card and memory card, I had battery swelling, Huawei OLED panels also don't last that long, charging port issue, it's nearly impossible to connect earbuds at a point that the phone became a feature phone,on the other hand, the 4g connectivity is great. From my experience, only Qualcomm and mediatek based phones are the long lasting phones in the market.
My Xiaomi note 3 with it's snapdragon processor , after 6 years, still perform like a champ, no lags in the UI, 4g speed is amazing and Bluetooth also connect very well. I've recently seen some Huawei phones launched with Qualcomm snapdragon processor, so maybe it can be a game changer

I am looking for an alternative, I just cant find one. Phones today at the same price point that i paid for my Mate are just missing something that my Mate has, some feature like you said - an IR, or OIS on at least 2 cameras and AF on all of them, fast charging etc. Size is also an issue, 6.39" are perfect for me. Yeah, xiaomi makes only 6.7" phones now. I looked at Honor 70, loooks good, but (to)big and missing meeeny things that my Mate has. Just an inferior phone. So yeah, we both have same problems...

Unfortunately a week ago the phone finally died. It just die. Further inspection on phone service, they said it is chipset failure. May be Kirin chipset doesn't last long?
Now I struggle to find phone with comparable specs especially with infrared except from xiaomi (avoid at all cost).

Got 2 Mates in 06/2019 for me and my wife. 1,5 years ago the motherboard on my wifes phone died, replaced under warranty. Got another 2 years warranty, but we lost all of our photos of our newborn son. Was very mad, wanted to sell both phones and buy a Samsung S20 plus. But T-Com Croatia messed my order and I continued using both phones. My wife got EMUI 12 months ago (both phone were bought in Austria), mine received EMUI 12 only 3 weeks ago. I dont like what they did with splitting notification shade and quck toggles. So after 3.5 years, my battery doesnt hold whole day. In my Country (Croatia) you get at Huawei centre new battery for 27€. Phone is great. Only issue I have (and some others to, looking on the forums) is that my phone reduces volume on the main speaker while watching media. You need to pause the media for 3 sek, then volume returnes. 1 minute later, phone again reduces volume. Issue never got fixed with updates. I'll replace the battery and continue using my Mate 20 pro fopefully for 1 - 2 more years. New phones that are current now dont really offer better specs, so why buy new phone.
