I buy Mate 20 X in Thailand at 1st January for my new year gift. I better than i expect. Smooth but not equal to iPhone. speaker is good but XS max louder than mate 20 X. M pen is good but need to recharge because battery will drain when it near phone( In Thailand Huawei gift M pen free if you buy Mate 20 X). camera is better than i expect but front camera are bad in some situation. I buy silver color because my girlfriend said blue color look old.

Huawei's NM is a very elegant design. (Unlike the stupid memory-stick design from Sony. Haha.)

The introduction of NM (NanoSD) makes it possible to have a standard slot with a shared interface such that a NanoSIM and a NM are interchangeable. Suppose you have a phone with only one NanoSIM slot. You can pull out that SIM and put in a NM so that you can copy files from the internal ROM to NM. You can put back the SIM once the file move operation is completed. In other words, every future smartphone will support extended memory, in one way or other, if this NM standard is adopted. Furthermore, many future smartphone will support multiple memory cards.

There is some confusion regarding NM (NanoSD) standard introduced by Huawei at Mate 20 series launch.

The primary driving force for NM (NanoSD) is to support future Hybrid Multi-SIM (Nano-SIM, Multi-SIM stand-by) within smartphones. NM is essentially a reduced version of MicroSD with identical internals. Size-wise, NM is identical to a Nano-SIM and 60% of the size of MicroSD. This makes support for Hybrid Multi-SIM simple. Multi-SIM refers to multiple nano-SIMs, more than 2 SIMs. If NM is not introduced, when future phones require support for Hybrid Multi-SIM, any support for additional memory extension will be difficult, due to space limitation. There is a growing demand for supporting 3-SIM-Stand-by (even 4-SIM-Stand-by) among Chinese smartphone buyers.

In terms of compatibility, price, performance and capacity, NM (nanoSD) is essentially identical to MicroSD. Every NM comes with a NM-to-MicroSD converter so NM is usable where microSD is usable. But in future Hybrid Multi-SIM slot, only NM will be supported. (NM can be put in where a NanoSIM is. You will need an additional larger slot for microSD if microSD is supported.)

The price for NM will be marginally higher than MicroSD initially, but will drop once its use is accepted. At this time, all NMs are OEM through Toshiba. Huawei doesn't charge license fees and makes no money out of it. Its acceptance will depend primarily on other Chinese smartphones makers. Whether other phone makers (Apple, Samsung, LG, SONY) adopt NM has no real-world impact.

Suppose you have a phone that supports 4-SIM-stand-by, but you only use one SIM. You can put in three 256GB NMs for 768GB extended memory. Isn't it wonderful? Have you ever imagined there will be a slot supporting multiple memory cards?

I have just discovered this phone from my friend. I used it for 2 straight hours, reading through the manual, and trying out different features, settings, etc. I am simply stunned. I didn't know a phone could be this versatile, this useful.

This is a huge milestone in the history of smartphones. This phone has completely changed my view what a smartphone can be. There is no competition from any other phones, not even other Huawei phones. I have no other words for it. Simply amazing!!!

Neo, 19 Jan 2019Contemplating placing an order for the Chinese 256/8 config... moreYeah not just Note 5 upto S8 they had same hardware for camera. On details of the object S7 edge is identical to Mate 20 X but definitely I prefer the colors of my 20 X more. Battery is definitely insane for the screen size and end of the day 40 % juice left on moderate to heavy usage. There is nothing to hate but definitely there is a camera bug which happens while switching between cameras, it force closes and when you reopen it shows can't connect to camera. I had to restart to make it normal. Hopefully Huawei solves in next update.( It's L29 version)

There are negatives and positives. Negatives are speakers are very bad. Sound quality is not good and read and write speeds are slow. Everything else is pretty good. Roughly $1K for it though. For $1K smartphone read and write speeds should be very fast and speaker quality should be great.

I've never been a fan of the Samsung camera TBH, my best camera experience has been with the iPhone. Currently a Note 5 user and the camera is garbage. I'm guessing its the same camera hardware as on the S7 edge?

The dimensions and pen capabilities of the Huawei Mate 20X is what the Samsung Note series is supposed to be.

I hope I like the device when I get one

Got mine yesterday ( from souq.com), shocked by the sheer size and worried how am I going to use this, but within 1 hour got used to the size and its awesome to play games. Audio through 3.5 mm is jack loud and bassy, but lacks clarity compared to my S7 edge. Bluetooth audio is sufficiently loud(with crusher wireless). Screen is awesome with better colors than the S7 edge. Battery backup is mindblowing. Camera is good enough and nice to have all those extra features but won't say it's better than my S7 edge. Overall perfectly happy with my upgrade from S7 edge which had terrible battery after 2 years of usage. Only issue I face is it's slightly sticking out of my pant pocket.
