Huawei Mate 40 announcement event officially scheduled for October 22
Richard Yu, Huawei Consumer Business CEO and Huawei Executive Director, took to Weibo to announce that the global launch event for the Huawei Mate 40 family of devices will be held on October 22 at 14:00 CEDT.
Besides a poster, shared by Mr. Yu, we also have a very short announcement teaser clip that incorporates and eye/iris. Not much to really go on, nor necessarily a hint for what is to come. However, some have speculated based on these materials that the Mate 40 line will feature some major advancement in telephoto tech.

That is neither here or there for the time being. We do, however, have more than a few leaks regarding the Mate 40 family to go by and potentially get a good picture of what is to come. As per MIIT certification, there will be a total of three models in the lineup – the Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro+. We have already seen fairly-detailed renders of both the Mate 40 and the Mate 40 Pro. If you choose to believe their authenticity, of course. Some slightly more tangible leaks, include an alleged display glass for the Mate 40 Pro, showcasing a smaller dual-selfie punch hole design, as well as very pronounced display curves. The punch hole can also be seen in a live video we have of the Mate 40 Pro. Even with the thick NDA case on, the curvature of the display is quite apparent.
In terms of hardware, the Mate 40 series is expected to debut the Kirin 9000 chipset. It might just be the first 5nm chip with a built-in 5G modem. However, it might also be one of the last, if not the very last flagship Kirin chip for the time being. Granted, that is a bit of a speculation and so are various reports of lowered sales expectations by Huawei, accompanied by limited chipset production and potentially a delay for availability of the Mate 40 line until next year. All of these are floating about in the rumor mill, though.
In the camera department, we are expecting a 108MP main shooter with a free-form 9P lens alongside a periscope module with 5x optical zoom. The remaining modules will likely be an ultrawide and ToF sensors. And one last bit of alleged info includes charging speeds of up to 66W.

As I said, I wasn't expecting you to understand that subtle, interpretation based, and complex of a difference, nor default naming categorization reaching outside its etymological scope.
