Hi to u all, I also got the Pie 9.0 update yesterday here in RSA.
Can some of you guys plz let me know if you can reply to messages without opening the lock-screen on this update.

I never received an update for my Mate 9. I'm still running the stock version of the software. Time to go back to iPhone.

from android 7 to 8, from 8 to 9, actually are some touch up on the user interface, more clean and clear. camera got minor update, notification bar become white color, clock more complicated to me now, most buttons previously on top, now are all moved to bottom.
volume key from horizontal become vertial now.
Some changes are good and some i wish can retain.
After all, the gestures is what everyone looking for.
yes i do like it so much. from recent home back keys to swipe up left right, it took me about 3 days to feel comfortable to use.
An 2016 smartphone, and able to upgrade to android pie in 2019.
Worth it.

Recently my friend gifted me this amazing mobile.
This is a 6'' mobile with 16:9 aspect ratio(but less in size when compared with many 5.5mobile). sturdy design and very easy to hold / handle. She paid an amount equal to 560 dollars and I think this mobile cam compete many flagships, even in 2019.
* sleek and sexy design(... and very slippery to hold). feels very less weight while holding because of its balanced design.
* very conveniently placed fingerprint scanner on back side. it's very fast and never fails. we can use the fingerprint scanner to scroll photos, videos etc.
* crisp and clear display with high contrast ratio and it is better when compared with many mobiles with oled screens.(it's contrast ratio is far better than my friend's mate-10). good sunlight readability. auto brightness works perfectly.
* my mobile came with android 8 version and expecting the pie update in march 2019.
* the touch is very responsive and it support glove mode also.
* never hangs, plays all games smoothly without any lag.
* 2+ days backup with the mammoth battery and it's with quick charging.
* no temperature rise while playing high end games/photography/charging .
* the phone comes with a frosted back cover with good grip, a screen guard(normal one, not good as toughened glass types), quick charging adaptor, c type cable etc.
* we can use two 4g sims at the same time or one sim and one memory card.
* we can use dual whatsapp & dual facebook in this.
* the main part of this mobile is its cameras. the back cam takes superb photos even in low light. the images taken are with good details and real natural colors. the in built night mode is very useful. the front cam is equipped with screen flash.
* crystal clear, real stereo speakers with good sound output and without any distortion. the stereo mode is very useful while watching videos.
* the 'emui' is very user friendly and butter smooth. no bloatwares, but with some useful apps also.
.... and some of the drawbacks are no ip rating, no ai

Okay, so a few days ago Pie update appeared in Firmware Finder. Looks like they'll start to actually update Mate 9's to Pie. Good.
