I have been using a Huawei Mate 9 since May 2017, this year my company gave me a brand new Samsung S20FE, but it didn't fulfill the expectations, so I'm still using my reliable Mate 9. This is a solid device with better performance than many newer high range mobile phones. Mine had never freezed down, even the 20Mp Leica camera is still respectable for every day use. The only thing is the battery life has decreased after 4 years of hard use, so I bought a damaged Y9 2019 to swap the battery, they use the same model , model is HB 396689ECW

I can't still find a phone that's on par with how I felt using my 4 year old mate 9. I'm thinking of switching to Samsung but on my country, they only sell Exynos variant. The new Huawei flagships have curved display, which is a no for me. Been looking at s20 FE (Snapdragon variant), Oneplus 8T, and Xiaomi 11TPro or Poco F3. How I wish Huawei still have google services. Since I'm reliant to it.

It's been over 4 years with this phone. . Its still working perfectly with no issues at all except for the battery (the original one) that started to loose power excessively... Though the fast charging is really useful here...

I love this phone , I still use it until now . Great phone. Almost full sepc.

It's been 4+ years my Mate 9 is working just fine except I accidentally broke its panel a few days ago. Thinking to replace it now. Some of the newer Huawei models have similar specs with a lower price tag. Lets see!!

Should I replace my Huawei Mate 9 in 2021, even if it's operating fine?
My argument: it's time to experience/enjoying new software and hardware features, for example Android 10, Dark mode, higher resolution, ...
Has anyone thought this way and bought a new smartphone? How is your experience?
BTW. This smartphone is a masterpiece! So I think it's not easy to find an alternative.

To start I can say WOW !!! Ironically I started with the Mate with the Model 20 Pro, later Mate 10 Pro and now Mate 9 for just almost a week now, in which the only thing I have is a great Admiration of this Device, I was impressed in all aspects, Camera 📷, Power, Graphics and the best of all its Autonomy, likewise I am very proud of Huawei which is the date it is and just 6 months ago it continues to update its Devices for practically 5 years that were announced and launched, definitely It is an Example for the other Brands in many ways.

Still using this phone my daily driver in 2021, still a great phone for me, last update Nov 2020, extend battery lifespan, Amazing phone nearly 5 years of age now
