I bet you didn't even use it before and just jump to the conclusion. I'm a Mate7 & 8 user and planning to buy this 9. The only thing I can tell you is that Smoothest Android phone I had ever used, I can tell even better than ios. I'm not bluffing or joking. iOS and iphone is nothing but a joke now after Steve Jobs passed away. Cos' it started to copy every features of android and lost it's own stand. It's kinda sad.

It is extreme overkill for such a small display, as it only manages to drain the battery even faster, with very little to 0 noticeable change in sharpness on a small screen. The ability to record 4K is so it is capable of outputting onto a Computer with a 4K display beautifully, or onto a 4K TV, where it actually matters.
The current trend of QHD (2160p...half of 4K) displays are honestly, maxed out on what the human eye can perceive on a small screen...The only true benefit of 4K on a phone display is VR...that's about it.
Huawei has stuck with 1080p as they firmly believe even QHD is a waste, because the output is barely noticeable on a small screen, and even that serves to just be a battery drain.

I am Mate 7 Monarch edition and P9 Plus Huawei User, and In the past, I hoped Mate 9 will has :
- Display : 1440 x 2560 pixels (~515 ppi pixel density) "not 1080 x 1920 pixels (~373 ppi)"
- Screen-to-body ratio : over 78%
- Front Camera : 12 MP with 4K
- Ram : 6GB
- Room : 128GB
- Battery Life : Should Longer then Mate 8
- Real Multitask
