The link to kitkat on baidu is in Chinese - do you know if it has options for language & location settings after update (English + UK)?
Also is phone dialler function still available with kitkate?

If I use the downloaded file to update to kitkat will there be an option to change the OS & UI to English?
I use mine as a phone too - is the dialler etc also updated?

After updating to Kitkat, the charging time takes much too long than the previous version.
Jellybean = 50%->100% takes about 2hrs.
Kitkat = 50->90% takes about 4hrs.
Huawei please fix this.

PhabletUser, 24 Feb 2015There is a kitkat software update for 4.4.2 for S8-301L Med... morei updated my MediaPad M1 as mentioned by PhabletUser from the link he gave and it is so much more smoother now with KitKat 4.4.2.
Update instructions:
1) Download the file from http://pan.baidu.com/s/1i3Fxuh3
2) Unzip the file
3) Copy dload folder (that is found within the unzipped folder) into a blank sd card
4) Power Off the phablet and insert the sd card
5) Power ON the phablet, the phone will auto detect the dload folder and update by itself
6) Done
TAKE NOTE(my lesson)-
Back up whatever you need first before updating. The update will erase the main stuffs(your apps, messages, phonebook, call logs) and your phablet will become a factory reset upon update reboot but the photos and videos inside phone memory are left untouched.

There is a kitkat software update for 4.4.2 for S8-301L Mediapad M1. It really speeds it up and removes lots of the lags with additional features. Have to use manual update though, by copying dload folder (from zip file) to your main sd card directory. Then use local update to find it. Highly recommended. Use XDA forums to find kitkat update or http://pan.baidu.com/s/1i3Fxuh3 from a chinese cloud server.

naveed, 22 Aug 2014vergood This is an unusable tablet, at least my versión, 4.2.2 S8-301L. If someone updated, please, tell me, because it is really unusable. In fact, i had to write this message on my cell because i cant do it in the worst tablet i ever had.

I think it will be my 1st tablet nice looking & amazing modern design also great features it has the HTC front design in addition to that amazing price will not pay a lot of money....I liked it a lot indeed!!

Perfect tab/phone, never saw battery stay over 12 with data/WiFi, and signal also so perfect
