I bought the tablet, unfortunately the OTA for Android 9 is not available so I am stuck with 8. But Netflix works fine as you said. I do miss the Dark theme mode though :( Thanks again for the info. need the support of the tec... moreYes! Widevine L1 (Full HD) is working on NetFlix with both of my LTE (SHT-AL09) M5's. They are both running the newest stock ROM ( 9.1.0.360) for their region codes (C432 and C185).
However, information I have seen on the XDA Developers forum indicates that rooted M5's default to Widevine 3. A workaround for getting Widevine 1 on rooted M5's may have been found, but I do not have any clues toward that end.

- Is it still capable of running Netflix? (is Netflix still supported?)

I've had this tablet since 2019, it's still running Android 9 no update from Huawei :o

I’ve this tablet and the 2020 IPad Pro. I enjoy (by far) gaming on the Huawei Tab. I also prefer reading on it to the iPad.
It is a great tablet. Battery, sound and screen are pretty solid. Doesn’t matter that it runs a 4-year old version of Android, I covered it with Nova launcher and it’s been a beauty.
I can only replace this with a foldable as 8’ is a PERFECT size for a tablet for multimedia, reading and handheld gaming.

The list of 4G (LTE) bands for the Wi-Fi/LTE version (SHT-AL09) of the MediaPad M5 8 [8.4"] is actually 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 18, 19, 20, 26, 38, 39, 40, and 41, not, as currently shown on the device's specs list on GSMArena, 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, and 20, which is actually the 4G list for the 10.8" regular and Pro Wi-Fi/LTE versions of the Mediapad M5.
Also, the chipset of the Mediapad M5 8 [8.4"] is actually the Kirin 960, not, as currently shown on the device's specs list on GSMArena, the Kirin 960s, which is actually the chipset of the regular version of the 10.8" Mediapad M5, although the Pro version of the 10.8" M5 has the Kirin 960. The 960 is better than the 960s.

Using a USB C PD charger that can deliver 18 watts or more with a C to C cable, it charges quite fast (says "charging rapidly"). using an older style '2.1 amp' USB A charger with an A-C cable it charges medium speed (10 watts). using an old school USB A port it could be really slow.

This tablet has awesome display IPS the best comfy and sharp displays
Guys stop asking for AMOLED display ... Rubbish Amoled LCD over cost, sharp light hurt eyes , damn expensive cost 6 times over IPS even amoled sharpeness really confusing me and any tiny hit will break easily and black spots .... I hurt a lot from AMOLED displays and i hate it i will never use AMOLED again
And yes i love IPS technology always strong always last long and always comfort my eyes .
