In my region there is no sign of EMUI 11(not that I care too much now since the phone is rutting in it's own box)... I am super disappointed with Huawei for this trash they are doing plus what I have discussed with the other dude, you will never find out from customer support center. You can only find out from people that are not biased to a brand like myself and the other dude. In the past I felt sorry for what they are going thru but now they deserve the things that are happening to them. Worthless company that scams their loyal customers.

    Got notification about EMUI 11 update, then bump to this issue of yours. Luckily u gave feedback on this thread, good community job u have done here. Well I guess just have to stick with 10.1 at the moment, until newer EMUI 11 fix those issue.

      Shui8, 12 Jan 2021May I know what is the real issue about the decrease camera... moreI feel like both photo and video specially in lower light situation has got decreased by time as new updates has come. I have older pictures taken by Huawei P40 Pro on my hdd as I have had this device multiple times and my fiance has P40 Pro too these days with newest EMUI11 and her pictures looks like painting when zoomed in vs my old july 2020 EMUI10 10.1.0.147 running P40 Pro takes so much better pictures and videos in common. Videos taken in the dark looks so foggy and muzzy with EMUI11 and they feels like taking video from 10 years old phone as my old LG G4 captures more details. I just don't know why as I have always thought P40 Pro has one of the best cameras around as having 1/1.28" sensor but these days any midrange can kill this phone photo/video quality if running newest EMUI's..

Gone are the days when I changed roms ... moreYeah and it should not supposed to be like that you have to change to older update as latest updates are just bad what comes to the camera department.. I feel like battery is better too in earlier firmware version. Changing roms is fun but in this situation it's better to sell the phone away and think something else than Huawei if they threat us customers like this and does not admit that there is something wrong in the camera software. It's just hard to think that you buy top-end model from X company and they make it bad in a year but i think it's just making more money if it makes customers to buy every year their latest products. This is proof that sometimes updates makes the product worse than it was, from better to worse. I usually follow my heart but my brain says that I should give up on this one and find more stable product as I bought this one for a great camera and it just don't tick that box anymore like it used to. And not all the apps even I used to have on my phone. I might just get some other phone and leave this P40 Pro to get some dust until Huawei rolls out Harmony OS and fix the camera like it should be.

Gone are the days when I changed roms on my phone, now I passed those moments and they will not return. I have other interests now. If I put my mind to it, I can do it for sure and it will all come back to me but like I said, I don't do this anymore and it's too much trouble. Plus, I need a phone that works 100% out of the box since I use my phone heavy and I don't have time to test different roms to settle upon one. And this is a temporary solution, it would fix the problem. And least but not least, I know that in todays world, updates ruin everything most of the time, I have seen it on my own products way to many times.

For me I have flashed custom roms since young boy so its some normal thing to understand that updates always won't make your experience better. I have always told about windows 10 too how bad it is for real and wish I could install windows 7 back but its impossible as having newer hardware requires 10. Btw I recommend you to check Vivo Iqoo 5 Pro as it has custom samsung GN1 camera sensor and charges in 15 minutes from 0-100%. I might change this P40 Pro to that one day. :)

I already have limited time and to spend my free time doings hacks all the time on my phone ? No thanks. I just need a normal phone. This phone doesn't offer anything else special to bother so much with it. Totally not worth it. Looking forward to Find X2 Pro which is much better than this.

Wish I could sell mine also ... but nobody w... moreNo problem, I changed my mind for now about selling this P40 Pro away as I manually updated firmwares and found best one for this from older ones. I have now EMUI10 10.1.0.147 july 2020 as that update has eye tracking feature added to front camera and overall image quality is very good like supposed to be and not blurry videos in the dark as tested. I downgraded from EMUI11 to latest EMUI10 fw and downgraded once to EMUI10 10.1.0.134 via Huawei Proxy tool and updated to upper version 10.1.0.147 and that one has working OTA updates as it wants to update again to bad firmware but wont let it do that. Hope I help ya fix the camera problem, it sounds hard steps but you can follow on youtube those GSM Fix steps and you will enjoy again your P40 Pro. :)

I'm gonna sell my P40 Pro away too and will jump to Apple world as they are stable even they don't innovative like Android phones in hardware wise. Looking for iPhone 11 or Pro to buy as they has better value than new 12- serie. Ready to sacrifice after having no Google. 😂

                        I'm really unhappy with the restrictions on the p40 pro, had no idea the apps I use don't work, Gmail with several accounts , track solid using play services.

I bought a Poco X3 NFC to use hoping that a fix or something will come but it seems with the new updates it's getting worse and worse. I tried talking to people online but some either have no clue about it and it seems normal to them or they are dumb fanboys that are not able to have a normal conversation. Anyway, at this moment, the X3 makes selfie videos indoor 10 times better than P40 Pro. It's basically useless indoors and I make a lot of video selfies. Thanks a lot for sharing the info with me, I thought I was crazy and the only one that was having this issue. The only way to make it look a bit better but just a bit better is to turn on beauty mode to +1 and it becomes a bit more usable but your face looks like a cartoon. I will try to sell this garbage phone and buy something else. Never going to buy a Huawei phone again. Even my Mate Pad Pro with it's 13MP FFC is more usable indoor than this one with 32 ... Huawei deserves the fate their having for doing this to their loyal customers.

So I will definitely stay away from their phones f... moreYeah dude, tell me more 😄 it's shame as P40 Pro has some beast hardware inside like biggest camera sensor of 1/1.28" but my old LG G4 outputs sharper pictures than P40 Pro.. So there is something wrong for real. I took some videos of my fireworks at new years eve and those videos looks like they has been taken by some cheap potato cuz EMUI11 had so bad quality in camera. It is just a shame. But now every picture I take look like their supposed to be as having old EMUI10 v10.1.0.134 now with old af security patches tbh 😂

It means that those idiots at customer support know about it and don't want to admit it. The FFC is at 2013 level. The back camera works very well in video, actually all 3 of them. Damn ... what idiots ... It's not enough that they already have problem with Google, now they dedide to do this stupid thing ... Profund regrets for buyin the P40 Pro and not going with Oppo Reno 4 Pro or Oneplus 8 Pro. What a total waste of money ...

See on RedSkull youtube channel where he comments on some P40 Pro camera comparison videos how updates has make this camera worse. It's weird move from Huawei I say!! 🤔

                                        Hey guys, I can confirm 100% that image quality in the common has decreased by newer updates. It might be cuz Huawei is using wrong algorithms in our P40 Pro (maybe focusing now more on Mate 40 Pro camera?). I installed 10.1.0.134 from may of 2020 with may patches and image quality is top notch in that firmware version when comparing newest updates. I downgraded EMUI 11 to EMUI 10 first with Hisuite11 and downgraded one more time with Hisuite 10 from newest EMUI 10 to older one 10.1.0.134. I followed carefully steps on youtube how to do that on GSM Fix channel How to downgrade P40 Pro firmware. Please be careful when downgrade fw stuff as you can brick your phone. I have experienced that so follow all the steps well. :)
