Google announced plans to deliver high-speed public Wi-Fi in 400 train station across India. The announcement marks the visit of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the search giant’s headquarters in the United States.

The CEO of Google Sundar Pichai delivered the news via a dedicated blog post. One hundred of India’s busiest rail stations will go online by the end of next year, thus giving access to free high-speed internet to over 10 million people that pass though them daily.

In order to make its project a reality, Google will team up with Indian Railways and RailTel. The latter operates a vast fiber network alongside the railway lines.
