Can anyone help? I need to connect it via it's USB cradle to a laptop then use it as a modem. I have configured the I-Mate but how do I get the laptop to see it as a modem to dial out.

Well, when I first looked at this phone it looked like it has all t6he features and despite the size I went out and bought one.
What a disappointment!!! I am so disappointed to have spent money on this phone. It has all the features and as long as you you use just as PDA it is fine, you go using the phone features and it is lousy. it crashes all the time especially when you receive a call, i have upgraded it few times but still not reliable and the battery life is very short especially if you use bluetooth.
One advise, DON'T BUY THIS PHONE

Look this phone is 2004 but is very very nice there´s bluetooth, there´s infrared, this phone almost speak lonely?Really,really cool,please give me one!!!!!!!!! Just kidding...

I am using PDA2K for couple of months. It is a great phone. But, I am not too sure as to how long it will work well. Within couple of weeks after getting the piece, I had to send it for service as it stopped functioning. After servicing, fortunately, it rings. But all the other sounds have gone. Otherwise, it is a great phone.

I had the same question about the RINGTONES. I ended up using the Microsoft Sound Recorder to create my own ringtones because there is nothing available for this PDA. I just palyed my music on ITunes and recorded and transformed into a .wav file. Then put on my device and set as a ringtone. Even better because I have the real song playing when someone calls.

Amazing phone, the PDA functionz amazing although the phone mode needs a bit of improvement.

Batt life bad. have 2 batt now at all times. ph poor. Frequently tells me cannot answer call which means I have to call the person back $$. I press answer and the ph will not answer.... Bluetooth headset will not wk properly either. Gave up on that.
As a Pocket PC its gr8. Can have broadband at all times which is very handy.
Had a prob with receiving sms msgs. Had 380 unreqa msgs in the inbox. All THE SAME!!! this occured twice. Thedealer said I had to reset handet to get rid of the problem which it did, however I dont have time to keep resetting......
This handset cost $1500 Australian dollars.
The camera is quite ordinary, not gr8 clarity. Video too dark and too far away.
I need a seperate ph handset ideally as this one is just irritating.

its um................. a little bit bif and it looks like a computer more like a stretched calculator and it always brakes so save ur money and go for the, Sagem MyC5-2 its a way better deal and both $199

This was my dream to hold the world in my palm and I got i-mate PDA2K. Its really good but the battery is the great problem I am facing, its just not the same written in the specification, it really does have a poor response and we need to charge it for long hours almost everyday. The service centers also gives poor response to the customer in Saudi Arabia (Axiom). Really need some solution to this problem. But on the whole this is really great and you feel like you are connected to the whole world round the clock.

I've had it for nearly less than a year, the phone works like dream in the few months, but then come the problems, you have to go take f for repairs MONTHLY, the backup battery is useless, it always formats whenever it pleases, VERY BAD sound quality, and sometimes you have to restart the entire thing so you can actually hear the caller...

need to know how to enable java in IE, have few websites which i need to run but failed, other hand, all thses sites are comfortably running in Nokia 9500 due to opera browser. need assitance from anyone.

It's the best Phone PDA combo. I travel with it and it's replace my Notebook (bu tplease note that you may have to reset it many times)

Excellent product! Only problem is it can`t make coffee also! I`ve read some comments and it seems isolated hardware problems. Go have that fixed and you`ll have a fantastic tool.

never buy a i-mate.if you buy it you cant use gsm very well
when a call comes ,you cannot answer it.i bought 2 weeks ago my i mate pda2k now in service it is the 2nd time.in turkey they dont change whit the new one.you must send the phone 3 times to service whit the same defect than you can change.NEVER BUT NEVER BUY

pda2k... battery life not great but all the features make up for it.
coll java software available free of the net to trf dvd files to watch on you media player
great phone, great pda and a great toy!
so stop moaning and go and get one
