KGI: 2018 iPhone with LCD will rejuvenate Apple sales volume
Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI posted his latest prediction on 2018 iPhones, brings some details about the three upcoming versions. According to Kuo, the cheapest iPhone will have 6.1” LCD panel with a battery of around 2,900 mAh.
Due to the lack of major breakthrough technologies and the alleged lower price of $700-$800, the phone is expected to account for 50% of all 2018 iPhone sales. Apple will implement FaceID and the notch while ditching the Touch ID and replacing the glass back with an aluminum panel.
Kuo adds that the lower-than-expected shipments of iPhone X are due to the high price of the phone, which matches the conclusion of Canalys from a week ago. The LCD version should be ready for market by September, along with two successors of the iPhone X. Both phones will have OLED panels and segmented L-shaped batteries.
The smaller phone will have a 5.8” panel and a power cell with 2,700-2,800 mAh capacity, manufactured by Unimicron. For comparison, the current iPhone X sports a 2,716 mAh battery. The bigger device will have 6.5” screen and will rock 3,300 mAh battery from the same manufacturer.
