alcatraz, 10 Oct 2022Can this be used to make phone calls? If yes, do you need t... moreIt can be used to make VoIP calls (e.g. through Google Voice) but you'd have to either use a headset or speaker as there's no earpiece above the screen. It doesn't have cellular connectivity (I'm not sure where GSMArena got that idea from — if there's a future version with cellular, it's certainly not been for sale to date). If you want to use this as a phone, I can't strongly enough recommend the Huawei MediaPad M6 8.4 Turbo. It was flagship specs a few years back, and it still performs absolutely beautiful. It has the nicest LCD panel I've seen on a mobile device (granted, still would have preferred OLED) and the most insanely powerful, bass-heavy speakers that easily best most laptops.

Can this be used to make phone calls? If yes, do you need to use a headset?
Does it have 4G or 5G connectivity?
Is cellular connectivity available with all of them or is it a special version?
I've been on a 7in phone for years and there's nothing "good enough" to upgrade to for about 5 years. It's either this or a foldable. I'm thinking to make the leap to this. Thanks!
If only it was an OLED screen then I'd be screaming, take my money!

Lenovo , 29 Aug 2022Very funny, to the people want tablets for calling haha lol 🤣🤣Some of us wouldn't use a tablet for a calling. They just wanted use it for internet connection purpose. Why people need to carry extra devices just to make them as portable WiFi for a tablet with no SIM card for internet connection?
It's a gaming tablet it should be reasonable to have a SIM card slot to carry everywhere. Unless it was for office or WFH user like a Surface series

It's functional for me with no issues, but you may want to read the XDA thread on it to see if there is any deal breaker for you.

This model is a no go here in SEA when the Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2021 or Lenovo Pad Pro 2021 exist and is much cheaper with much more features than the Legion Y700.

Jarrnick, 11 Aug 2022Ive been searching for this Tablet as the LTE/5G version an... moreI totally agree with everything you say here about the Mediapad M5 8 SHT-AL09, and share with you the frustration that there is no cellular version of the Lenovo Legion Y700. I have the Mediapad X2, the Mediapad M2, and the Mediapad M5, the M5 being the only one which is still adequate for reliable calling on T-Mobile in my area in the USA. I have no need for anything the M5 cellular-calling version does not provide, and I do not want to be forced in the future to have a separate device just to be able to make cellular calls. I foresee continuing to want a single mobile device with a screen about 4 1/2 inches wide, not one with a screen about 3 inches wide, and not something expensive that folds!
