I've read tons of reviews and tutorials about downsizing the resolution and non of them works 100%. most are advised to be only used during gaming, not in normal usage as some icons/texts are not optimized in 1080p resolution. so any difference isn't going to be significant.
the fact that the hardware itself is already at 1440p, no software adjustments are gonna make any significant difference. if it was at 1080p by default (the hardware itself) then we'll probably notice a significant difference.

I have LG G3 for 2.5 years now and my battery can still hold 2 days if I used it moderately. The thing is that, at my work, there is poor 3g and I think it drains battery more...
I am using custom rom - lineage os 7.1...

It is possible to switch to 1080p by rooting the phone (I've done it) and tests online show that the difference in battery usage is ~1%.
The real benefit of 1080p is better framerate in GPU demanding applications like games...

Great phone; had for 3 years. Beautiful display but battery must be charged or changed every hour or 2, so I carry extra batteries. Only 2 quirks: often loses Wi-Fi signal for no reason & must be re-set and power switch located on the back often turns on when placing phone down.

Recently i broke the screen of my -g3 and went it to a service store to replace it. The owner told me smthing about the graphic card and that after two years it starts to troubleshoot before agreeding to make the repair. Could the repair affect the graphic card if he is not careful? ; i found it ver suspecious of him to refer it and i thought maybe he is trying to avoid accusing him if smthing like this happens after the replacement. Weird thing is no one here experienced such a problem...
