The Dual Screen turned off after the update, that's the only clue it gave that it got updated. Like said in the YouTube video, need to check the main screen after call end unlock bug has been fixed or not, which I didn't do.

I was wondering if the update at all took place. Is there any way to understand, if the update was successful or not?

Below is the FOTA change log:

            1) Phone usability and functionality has been further improved
            2) Version: V20f-MAR-20-2021
            3) Size: 350.76 MB

            After the FOTA update:

            Software Version: V20f-IND-XX
            Android Version: 10
            Android security patch level: 01-Mar-2021

The LG FOTA servers seems to be super slow and data transfer speed was maybe capped at 200 kbps max. In contrast my Vivo, Honor, Nokia & iQOO phones download FOTA updates at 2 Mbps or even higher. LG India is providing us with bi-annual Android security patch upgrades for their flagship phones as my LG G8X had Sep, 2020 patch before.

Was there any Dual Screen firmware update?

Received an update today in Indian weighing around 350 MB and the Android security patch level is now 1 March 2021. Apart from that the update said it has made some improvements for the phone.

Especially considering that LG released the first phone with Nougat (LG V20), only to be updated to Oreo. The korean version was updated to Pie, but that hardly makes a difference. So yeah, it's pretty hard to believe their promise now.. but let's hope for the best.

LG phones should never be bought for corporate use... mainly because of their bi-annual or in some cases annual security patch update policy for flagships in my country ... I had to retire my LG V30+ just for that or it would have been blocked from my official network. Henceforth I am using a Chinese Vivo NEX S which provided bi-monthly updates and seems to be a better phone in my humble opinion.

There are reasons why many did not like LG flagships ... one being the software support. So now the news of providing three Android version upgrades while exiting the business is sounding quite absurd to me. May your words come true.

                        hi All
Anyone facing the issue with bluetooth codec always defaulting to 'AAC' no matter what is chosen in developer options for G8x ?

I am using the Fiio BTR5 and when it was paired with G8X and music playing - it 'd show that 'AAC' was codec , i checked in developer options in G8X , yes it indeed was - i had other options too so , i selected 'aptx-HD' and closed the developer options still after reconnection of Bluetooth - same codec 'AAC' was in developer options selected - why ?

Also - even if i choose 'Ldac' in devaloper options and exit out from the devaloper options and establish bluetooth with fiio BTR5 - same issue , the bluetooth codec in g8x defaults to 'AAC' - is this a known issue with LG phones ?

G8X arrived with Android 9, so it will get Android 11 and thats it. Forget about anymore security patch updates henceforth.

Samath N8 808 owner, 07 Apr 2021Sharing almost the same opinion... No idea what to say man.... moreVivo was the pioneer of HiFi analogue audio since its inception, and LG was next with much broader market reach. Vivo had exclusive partnership with ESS back in those days and produced some great audio centric smartphones like Vivo X5Max, Vivo Xplay6 which came with ESS hardware. But with ESS jumping ship to LG, Vivo was pissed off and moved to Cirrus Logic partnership which till date provides great audio neck-to-neck to that of LG. Like the LG G8X vs Vivo NEX S.

Loosing LG have left a deep hole in the audio centric smartphone market for sure. But now we have new players to like Asus who with its ROG 5 comes laden with ESS latest audio chips to its gills. So there is hope.

Hope Soundmagic E50C paired with G8X fulfill your audio needs. Sharing a review link between E50C vs E80C which aggravated me to buy both.

Two of the greatest innovators have died 😓

No weekly/monthly update is good because there is no planned obsolescence

RishiGuru, 06 Apr 2021LG is gone from smartphone business. I feel motherless now.Sharing almost the same opinion... No idea what to say man. Let's hope they return.
Was it so tough for LG to just appoint an ace marketing manager?

Anyhow, updating you that I got Redmi Note 8's screenguard (glass), the original one from Mi for Rs. 400 and applied it to my G8x. Its a good fit and the quality is top notch, the local ones I tried were a fingerprint mess... so its well worth the little investment.
Meanwhile, the Soundmagic E50C as recommended by you are on their way from Flipkart... in a day or two, I'll have them. Got it for 3199/-... I'll update.
