I've narrowed down my next Android phone to two choices: LG G8X or the Google Pixel 4 XL?

              LG G8X ThinQ
              - The Dual Screen is more of a bonus than a USP
              - Sleek, elegant design. Camera is completely flush with the glass.
              - 4000mAh battery, 3.5mm headphone jack, great haptics
              - I'm one of those weird people who likes LG's skin. It's clean and full of customization.
              - Low-light camera apparently not the best
              - Lack of proprietary hardware
              Google Pixel 4 XL
              - Neat, minimalist design. Grippier than glass sandwhiches
              - Smooth performance, 90hz refresh rate
              - Outstanding camera
              - Lots of cool gimmicks: squeeze for assistant, now playing, motion controls
              - Medicore battery - but I'm never far from a charging port
              - Pixel stand, Pixel Buds 2 (coming soon) accessories

Hi, Alex here... I purchased this LG G8X yesterday... Perhaps the most beautiful mobile I have ever owned in my life...Ohh My God I dont feel like keeping it down nor take my eyes off it.
Dual Screen is really a grace... Battery back up is excellent.. I sold my Galaxy Note 10 plus to buy this beast. People really turn their heads to see this beauty once again.

Seeing this, Now my wife also wants to sell off her Iphone 11 and own this marvellous piece of Engineering... 100000 Stars to LG.

i love the phone but i got it to use the 2screen and i had to do a DOA on the first one only to have the same problem on the replacement G8X dual
cause if i use the 2 screen it freeze 3/4 of the time and only time it dont freeze it by not using the case with 2nd screen and im stuck with it for 2year contract unless i can pay the 1300 Canadian $ to pay it off
im guessing the problem is a frameware not fully ready for dual screen and need a real good look at
so far it my biggest regret this year i should of when with samsung 10S for almost same value

I've been saying LG is a dead brand but this model (and v50s) caught my eye. Unbelievably only now they move the fingerprint to the front!
However, they don't offer anything to the community, rooting is not possible. Therefore, it stays a dead brand.
PS. Ex owner of v30, one of the best phones ever had

I'm glad I stumbled across this... I love my dual but the charging adapter was broken on day 3... But the only glass I could find broke.2 screens on 1st drop...just the protection... Unfortunately im a huge klutz and continuously drop mine...I've been really concerned that I can't find a case.. Or decent glass protectors..But if I'm understanding correctly, it doesn't need 1???? That sounds disastrous for me!!! Lol... Also, I am trying to replace my adapter and can only seem to find it on the LG website... I really don't want to buy more of the same 1... The magnet piece pushed inside the plastic so far it wouldn't stay connected, just kept falling off... So, when I had tried everything to get it pushed back down and it wouldn't budge, I did what any sane normal person would do and proceeded to rip the plastic away piece by piece until I finally moved it....😂... But it was then that it appeared to be able to be taken apart.. 🤫 JIC of that event... So, I used as ton of my tiny rubber bands for my hair to put it back together... Lol... Very tricky indeed...lol... But my question is... I saw a bunch of similar ones on Amazon even some has protection from threats like me, but I have no clue if any will work for the dual, they don't say and in my opinion, look slightly different?!?! Any help on the adapter and protection is much appreciated...🖤 before I spend a bunch more money....Thanks..🤪

Reviews show that both phones are good phones and the dual screen is a good alternative for a much more expensive Galaxy Fold. I don't have an LG phone but I think they are very underrated and deserve more sales.

Aadrian, 26 Jan 2020I agree the V50 is more of a flagship compared to the G8X, ... moreThat's a good point, and my bad - I thought they were the same price. I hope you enjoy the G8X!:)

NinjaNerd757, 26 Jan 2020I see this as more of a downgrade from the LG V5O ThinQ Dua... moreI agree the V50 is more of a flagship compared to the G8X, but it's also more expensive since it has 5G and this G8X doesn't support it. So the price is an important thing too for a lot of people. I think both are great phones and I would get the V50 if I got them for free, but if I'd to pay it myself I would go for the G8X. The dual screen is a good addition.

I see this as more of a downgrade from the LG V5O ThinQ Dual Screen than a successor to that phone in every way except for the better dual screen design. If the G8X had kept everything from the V50 AND had a better dual screen, I would be down for this, but for some reason, some of my favorite things about the V50 were cut, or kept but altered in an inferior fashion, including:

                                      -Support for Dolby Vision content
-The HDR10 support for video, from everything I've read about the G8X, is gone, as is manual video (please correct me jf I'm wrong)
-The screen is a lower resolution and has a much lower pixel density, on top of the lack of Dolby Vision
-The G8X loses two cameras, and the remaining ones all have a higher-aperture than the cameras on V50 (f/1.8 on the main camera for the G8X vs f/1.5 for the main camera on the V50), which means that they'll perform worse in low-light, not to mention that the ultra-wide angle camera is brought down from 16MP to 13MP
-This is a personal issue, bit I dislike that the USB-C port is taken-up by the Dual Screen. It can be remedied with the magnetic charger included with the G8X, but it just makes things more complicated

The G8X isn't a BAD phone by any means, and it even has some things going for it over the V50 ThinQ Dual Screen, including

-A higher resolution front camera (32MP on the G8X vs. a dual camera set-up of one 8MP and one 5MP camera on the front of the V50)
-A uniform Dual Screen which matches the size, resolution, and aspect ratio of the G8X's main screen, and an external notification display on the other side of the Dual Screen not seen on the V50 Dual Screen

... but I can't say that those would make me choose the G8X over the V50. After communication, I use my phone mostly for media consumption and creation, so maybe the things that are hard losses for me - Dolby Vision, better low-light because of a lower aperture - don't matter to you. But just make sure you look hard into your decision. For my money though, if you're confused about this phone and the V50, and want to choose between them, choose the V50 unless 1) it's to difficult to import the Dual Screen supported version of the V50 to your country (the V50 Dual Screen isn't sold in some countries and models of the V50 which ARE sold in those countries don't have the ports to connect the Dual Screen if you decide to import it, so be sure to import both the phone AND dual screen), 2) you care exclusively about the Dual Screen, and don't care about any losses over the V50, just for a better Dual Screen experience, or 3) you simply don't care about what was lost in the transition from the V50 to the G8X

Kinda bugs me that the G8X ThinQ is being advertised as a better phone when really, for my money, it's an inferior version of the V50 ThinQ EXCEPT for the dual screen. The only thing addeda
