TBH, there isn't that much of a difference from the LG's 1.6(which is customised anyhoo, and fooled most of the press into thinking it WAS 2.1), to the 2.1.
In fact, LG might make a few more customisations again, but as noone has seen it yet, it's hard to tell.

What is this "Australia" of which you speak??
Is that a new country, or whereabouts in the galaxy is such a place...lol. :)

I would say your issue was with you throwing the phone and smashing it, I would class that as foolish.
There's a chance of everything in life failing at some point, but throwing the phone and smashing it, when it could have been something simple that was wrong, was foolish.

No not specifics, but more than likely Russian/Korea first, but there are pics of a Thai version as well floating about, so as to what country gets it first is a roll of the dice scenario.

Wise men learn from other mistakes; fools, not even from their own. I would be a fool not to learn from my experience. What makes my experience sound more stupid is that I went ahead with my decision to buy an LG android phone inspite of the rather bad reviews it had received, especially for its touch screen, as well feedback from my colleagues who had lg touch screens (not android, though).
Well, then find out at your own cost then

Or you can use a media player like Act 1 media player, which plays nearly everything.
I'm currently playing a 624 x 352 file on my GT540, and it works a treat.

Problem of playing AVI files is solved. The problem was with the resolution. The video player of Optimus doesn't play videos more than 480x320 resolution and it will show "Cannot play this file" warning message. I used some "AVI Recomp" to change the resolution of my AVI files. And now i can watch any avi or divx etc. video files in my Optimus.
The picture clarity of Optimus is simply rocking. Wow man.... great......

For sounds, go to Settings - Locale & Text - IME, and its in there for vibration, and sound alerts when typing.
to delete text messages, either open the app, and press the menu sensor then select "Delete Threads" picking a thread from the list,
or
Go into the conversation you want, and press and hold your finger on the message you want to delete, then select delete from the list.
As to your mail, open the Google Mail app, press "menu", then select "View Labels", and select "All Mail"

Well, for starters, you wait till 2.1 is out.
Then you hope your provider gets it quick.
You use the LG updating site, and do it on pc, connecting phone to pc with the usb cable you got.
Some providers might do it over the air, but none as of yet have(there are 1.6 updates out there, but all have to be done on pc).
