What's the resolution of the .avi you are trying to play?
anything really over the screen's res, you will get problems.
The phone plays xvid files no problems, and the divx files i've tried play fine too.

Never every buy an LG touch screen phone. I made the mistake of buying GW620 - the screen was so bad when it comes to detecting touch that I ended up slamming the phone out of range and breaking it.

I've registered my mobile and registration was very smooth. I was able to run the divx video given during registration in mobile successfully. But still I'm not able to run any avi files. It again showing the same "Cannot play the file" error. I even re-booted and tried but no use. Still I'm getting same error message only.
Any hope ????

Anonymous, 07 Sep 2010Thanks Diluen. But here I have a doubt. I went through the ... more1) You van try the "One Time Registration" thing again. I think that happened to me cause i clicked the "DivX VOD Registration" again and it gave me a different code.
2) My DivX Reg is not running as well because I probably killed it at startup. But I don't think it matters whether it is alive or not (I can still watch DivX videos without DivX Reg running).
3) You can try that, but I don;t think it will owrk because each device has a different reg. code and the "register video file" is generated from that unique code. So sorry about that.

I went through the details given about the registration http://www.divx.com/en/movies/register-your-device . Here it says tat it is "One Time Registration". I think my mobile has already been registered as they showed me demo of some videos while buying.
So, can I register my mobile again as it is mentioned as "One Time Registration"?
Also in settings->Applications->Manage Applications I can see the app "Divx Reg" but it is not running and I couldn't find any options to make it alive. Will this app help me any more??
What if I copy the content of other LG Optimus(a registered one with Divx) memory card to my memory card and try running ???
Sorry to post many questions at a time. But pls help me on this.

Two days before I bought my LG Optimus GT540. The PC suite IV, Driver installables etc were given in the memory card(comes along with the pac) itself as they dont give separate CD for this. I was unaware of this and formatted the Memory card using format option in the phone, without even checking the contents in the card :(
Now the problem I'm facing here is, the Media player is not playing the avi/divx files which is supposed to play. And I'm getting "Cannot play this file". It seems the divx application was installed in the memory card.
How do I get my back Media player work with divx and avi. I'm complete new to this stuff and I've never done any app installation in Android. Please help me on this.

The wallpaper resolution, is the same as the screen, which is 320 horizontal x 480 vertical.
you can of course use any picture you want, it may get cropped, it may not, depending on the picture.
Horizontal pics work best for wallpaper on the home screen, while vertical is best for the lock screen.

1.No, not really.
Some devs will see a second phone as a second device, so you want apps on it, buy another copy.
You could do it if both phones were rooted, etc, but some may work, others may not.
2.No, but you can download some apps from the net on pc(so apps are on the devs sites), and then install them on the phone, provided you copy the .apk files to the SD card on your phone.

No, the problem with Orange, is their network/coverage is poor, and not nearly as good as they say/think.
second only to the 3 network for rubbish coverage.
try any other random brand sim card, and you will see.
Also, people with the Orange version of this phone have borked software on it, as nearly every app will try to force 3G, and not wifi.
Orange seem to have a kink for not using wifi(they don't make money off it), and sometimes phones that have it, have wifi disabled, or something in the software, like i say, that tries to force 3G.

I had read your previous comments about Orange software on this phone and bought an unlocked T-Mobile phone and put my Orange sim card in. This seems to work well - though wonder if this is the cause of the lack of Orange signal in some areas.

LG Gt540 is nice handset compare to other android phone,becouse low price good look and nice video quality and user interface is much better than samsung galaxy3.
