      2) In Contacts, press Menu button and there should be a "Send message" button.

                  My Opinions,

                  1. Orange phones are rubbish, and they mess up the software something awful.
                  2. Google Maps, is the same everywhere, with regards connection.
                  3. As a solution, you could go here :
                  http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=630887

and see a modded version of Google Maps, with Navigation, which lets you save map tiles to SD card, and navigate fully offline(using GPS), and uses vioce.
                  It works quiet well.

Most of the Nav apps that work on this phone, save maps to SD, and there are a couple of free apps for Nav also, on the market.

Having used this phone for just over a week I have found a severe downside that is not documented. If you are in an area with no phone coverage (Orange !!!!!) the maps function does not work !
I bought the unit expecting to be able to access the maps function extensively - found that if I am in an area with no Phone signal, which I am regularly, Google maps is NFU as it does not store data on the SD card. I've now downloaded a third party software (cost of £24) which gives me full map access loaded on SD card. If I had known that you need a phone signal to use the Maps I would never have bought this phone.

RottenFoxBreath, 04 Sep 2010@ blue charger, Arrgh...wall of text!!! firstly, ... more@RottenFoxBreath and @blue charger

I have to agree with blue charger, O2 customer service stinks. I was told in person and by text that my tariff would change within a couple of days, this didn't happen and in the mean time I ate though a lot of credit.
Then got a text telling me I'd change to text and web on 11th Sept, over a month after my initial request!
Ringing O2 got me knowhere, they just flat refused to honour the 48hr promise I'd had in store.
Instead I've had to set up a temporary 500mb bolt on for £7.50 in order to stop my credit evaporating.

Other than that it's a great phone...

In the meantime if I use the wifi connection at home using by BT wireless router can I use all the internet (such as google maps and downloading android apps) free without it using my pay as you go credit.
